Semester-Six Weeks Honor Rolls Released

Carol Green Is WHS Homemaker Card Green, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Green, has been named Wawasee high school’s Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow fa--1972. She was chosen on the basis of her score in a written knowledge and attitude examination taken by senior girls on December 7 and will receive a specially designed award charm from General Mills, sponsor of the annual education program. Additionally, she is now eligible for state and national honors. Carol has been a member of FHA for four years, holding offices of treasurer, secretary and vice president; she is a sevenyear member of the CommunityHands 4-H club and was Miss Jersey Dairy queen in 1971. Carol is also a member of the Future Teachers of America and the girls sports club. She has been accepted at Ball State and plans too major in home economics. The State Homemaker of Tomorrow, to be selected from all school winners in the state in judging which will center on performance in the December 7 test, will be awarded a 51.500 college scholarship. Her school will receive a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica. A SSOO scholarship will go to the secondranking girl in the state. This April, the 51 Betty Crocker Homemakers of Tomorrow representing every state and the District of Columbia — each accompanied by a faculty advisor — will be given an expensepaid educational tour of Colonial Williamsburg, Va., and Washington, D. C. Personal observation and interviews during the tour, added to the earlier state-level judging results, will culminate in the announcement of the 1972 Betty Crocker All-American Homemaker of Tomorrow -at the conclusion of the tour. Her. scholarship will be increased to SSOOO with those of throe runnersup raised to $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000. In addition to the awards for school, state and national Homemakers of Tomorrow, a special SI,OOO nutrition scholarship has been added to the Betty Crocker search program this year. To earn this award, a girl must be planning a college major in nutrition or a related field, rank among the highest in her state in the overall search examination and achieve the top score, from those meeting the first two criteria, on the test's nutrition questions.

Meet The Wawasee Seniors

LANDA SCHELL Landa Joland Schell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williamson of r 1 Warsaw. This year she is taking earth science, physiology, radio and television, government and personal finance management. Earth science and government are her favorite subjects. She has been in GAA one year, Y-teens one year, newspaper staff one year and was on the make-up crew for the senior class play. After graduation she would like to attend Wayne Beauty college in Fort Wayne. She has one older brother, Thomas L. Schell, 25, Decatur; an older sister, Mrs. Danny (Chari) Strom beck, 20, North Webster; and a younger sister, Annette K. Mills, 11, a sixth grader. Swimming is her favorite sport. “The Learning Tree” is her favorite book and listening to music is her hobby. -WHSNANCY JEAN EARY Nancy .Jean Eary is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Eary of r 1 Cromwell. Mohler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Mohler of 196 North Shore Drive, Syracuse. He plans to enter college after graduation and become an architect. Tony is taking drafting, government and yearbook this year. Drafting is his favorite subject. He has been a member of the national honor society for one year, Lettermen’s club for three years, the freshman and junior varsity football team two years, the freshman basketball team and played one year of freshman baseball and three years of varsity baseball. Tony has one sister, Lisa, who is 11 and in the fifth grade. He works at Delta Homes Village Square. The eldest of four children her younger sisters and brother are Trudy, 16, a junior; Sally, 15, a freshman; and Gary, 11, in the fifth grade. Linda works at Little and Clark's in Milford. —WHS—LESLIE BURNWORTH Leslie Arlene Burnworth plans to attend Ravenscroft beauty college after graduating from Wawasee high school, she is the daughter of Thurman and Martha Burnworth of North Webster. This year Leslie is taking government, DE related subjects and art co-op. She is president of DECA, bat girl for the baseball team and a member of the girls sports club. An older brother Greg works at Wagoner’s Arco station and a younger brother, Jon, is a junior at Wawasee. Leslie works at Thornburg’s in North Webster. Pat is the son of Meredith and Michael Mignery of r 2 Syracuse. Pat has been in the industrial arts club for two years, the photo club one year and was a member of the freshman choir. He earned a letter in swimming during his sophomore year. After graduation Pat plans to get married. His sister Cindy is 15 and a sophomore while brother Mark is eight and in the third grade. Another sister, Michelle, is four. This senior works at Elder Realty and Lake Shore Marine Supply. Swimming is his favorite sport. “Hot Rod’’ is his favorite book and cars, mechanics, skiing and boats are his hobbies. —WHS—JANICE HAMELL Janice Marie Hamell is one of six children of Ralph and Evelyn Hamell of 500 North Harrison St., Syracuse. This year Janice is taking DE related subjects, government and occupational clothing. Clothing is her favorite subject. Janice has been a member of the Future Homemakers for four years and the DECA club for one year. After graduation she plans to ■work with clothing. Her brothers and sisters are: Larry, 29, a physical education teacher and coach living in Eigen, DI.; Mrs. Ronald (Jean) Harris of Plymouth; Lester, 20, who works for Holiday Rambler; JoEllen, 11, in the sixth grade at Syracuse junior high; and Jill, nine, in the fourth grade. She is a basketball fan and also enjoys football. Sewing, quilting and handycrafts are her hobbies.

Musicians Receive 67 Gold Medals In District Contest

Members of the Wawasee high school music department won 67 gold medals at the district vocal, piano, string and ensemble contest held at Bishop Lures in Fort Wayne. A total of 15 soloists and 18 ensembles were entered in the Saturday competition. An additional 14 seconds were received with 56 students receiving silver medals.
