Adult Education Classes Begin In February
Tentative plans have been made for the adult education classes at Wawasee high school. Classes in machine shop, intermediate sewing, tailoring, knitting and crocheting, typing, art and macrame will begin during the first week in February. The classes will meet once a week from 7-9 p.m.

Meets Towncrest The Syracuse Girls Athletic association met Towncrest school of Goshen Monday afternoon for two basketball games at Syracuse The first game by the seventh ■ graders saw Syracuse defeated 19 to 12 with local scoring running close Marie Kitson scored three, Kathy Brouwer, two. as did Leslie Shenefield followed by Sandy Rinker with one. In eighth grade action, Syracuse won by stomping its opponents, 35-9. Scoring for Syracuse were Barbara Brouwer with 17, Meg Schopf six. Tammy Schumm four. Killie White two, Jenny Cox two, Sherry Myers two, Denise Darr two The next game will be with Ligonier.

The enrollment fee will be $lO. There will be a limited enrollment in some of the classes. Those enrolling first will receive priority. If there is not sufficient interest in any of the classes, the course will be dropped and the fee returned. Those wanting additional information should phone Wawasee high school and inquire about adult education.
Successful 4-Hers Hold Meeting On Jan. 11 At Milford By BECKY ZIMMERMAN On the evening of January 11 the Successful 4-Hers of Milford held their second meeting of the year. It was held at the home of Jon and Joe Cousins, r 2. The meeting was opened by president Greg Kaiser and the pledges were said. The American pledge was led by Clark Rassi and the 4-H pledge by Mark McDonald. Treasurer’s report was given by Ann Kaiser. New business of the skating party was discussed and left up to the president. Record books for the new year were handed out by Lester Krull. ■ A demonstration on photography I was given by Jon and Joe Cousins. . The next meeting will be on February 14 at 7 p.m. at Zimmermans. Mark McDonald will present a demonstration. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served. Community Hands Elect Officers By CONNIE HOOPINGARNER The Community Hands 4-H club met at the Syracuse school cafeteria last Wednesday. Brian Roberts gave the American pledge and Doyle Kolberg led in the 4-H pledge. Granddaughter Appearing On TV Reni Monteith, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mock of r 1 Milford, is appearing this week and next week on the channel 21 Romper Room television show in Fort Wayne. She is the 5-year-old daughter of Richard and Janie (Mock) Monteith of Fort Wayne.
Meet The Wawasee Seniors
NANCY HOLCOMB Another of the busy seniors at Wawasee high school is Nancy Lynn Holcomb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Migedt of r 4 box 145 Al, Syracuse. Nancy is taking advanced chemistry, English, government and office education laboratory. Office education lab is her favorite subject. She has been a member of the health careers club for four years and has worked as a hospital volunteer for three years. Nancy is also a m year member of the journalism staff, and has been in the art club two years, Quill and Scroll Society for two years and the honor society for one year. She has two awards from the Goshen hospital and journalism awards from Vincennes university and the South Bend Tribune. She plans to enter the secretarial field after she graduates. Nancy has two sisters and two brothers. Susan Holcomb is 15 and a sophomore, Cindy Holcomb is 13 and in the eighth grade. Mark Holcomb is 12 and in the seventh grade and Ronald Migedt is five and in kindergarten. Nancy works at the Kale Island Beacon. Softball and swimming are her favorite sports. Sewing, reading and ice skating are her favorite hobbies. —WHS—DEVON SORENSEN Devon E. Sorensen is the eldest son of Eldon and Nola Sorensen of 109 S. Henry street, Milford. This year Devon is taking DE related subjects, government and auto mechanics. DE and auto mechanics are his favorites. He has been a member of DECA for two years and the boys pep club for two years. After graduation he plans to work. He is currently working at C. S. Myers, Inc., in Milford. Devon has three brothers, Mark, a sophomore; Craig, in the eighth grade; and Jeff, in the first grade. Baseball is this senior’s favorite sport. “To Kill a Mocking Bird” is his favorite book. Model building is his hobby. —WHS—JOHN DEAN John William Dean is the son of Robert C. and Patricia Dean of 400 Parkway drive, Syracuse. He is taking DE and DE coop plus typing one and government this year. His favorite subjects are government and bookkeeping. He has been a member of the baseball team for three years, the Letterman’s club for three years, participated in intermurals for two years and has been a member of the boys pep dub two years, DECA dub one year and the cross country team one year. After graduation he plans to go on a tour of Europe and then attend college. He has one older brother. Charles Ellis Dean, 20, Lincoln Tech, Indianapolis; and three younger brothers. Dwight David Dean, 18, a junior at Wawasee; Gary Allen Dean, 16, a freshman at Wawasee; and Jerry Lynn Dean, 14, an eighth grader at Syracuse junior high school. John works the secondshift at Goshen Rubber Co.

Collecting bottles is his hobby. -WHS—ROBERTA TIRSCHEK Roberta Lee Tirschek is the daughter of Mrs. Bettylou Tirschek of North Webster. She is taking choir, government, bookkeeping and office lab this year. Choir, hone ec and office lab are her favorite subjects. She has been a member of the Block “W” for two years and the choir for four years. She has a music letter. Bobbie plans to work after graduation. She has an older brother, Joe, 20, who is currently working but plans to return to Purdue university in the fall and a younger sister, Sandy, 14, in the eighth grade. This senior works at Al and Dee’s Grill. Her favorite sport is ice skating. Cooking and sewing are her hobbies. —WHS—KATHLEEN THORNBURG Kathleen Marie Thornburg is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Searfoss of Syracuse. She resides at 430 E. Boston street in Syracuse. Kathy is taking government, home ec, physiology and sells - merchandising. Physiology and home ec are her favorite subjects. J After graduating Kathy plans to work. She has one sister, Sandi Searfoss, a junior at Wawasee. Kathy has a son, Charles W. (Chuck) who is 17 months old. She likes summer sports and enjoys watching Warrior basketball. A very busy senior, he has been in the art club for three years, Spanish club for two years, pep band for two years, student council for one year and executive council for two years. He has also been a member of the basketball team for two years, track team for four years and cross country team for one year. Kerry is also a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren. After graduation he plans to attend Manchester college. He has one brother, Allen, 20, a student at Manchester college and a younger sister, Holly, 14, a student at North Webster junior high. “Good News For Modem Man” is his favorite book. Sketching, sports, reading, wood carving, canoeing and camping are his hobbies. His favorite sport is track. —WHS—TERESA WISEMAN Our next senior is Teresa Jane Wiseman daughter of Jack W. Wiseman and Virginia Wiseman, both of North Webster. Terri is taking radio-television, government, orchestra and two periods of occupational foods this year. Occupational foods is her favorite subject. Terri is a member of FHA, two years; FTA, one year; and orchestra, six years. Her awards include one for a bass solo contest. She plans to work after graduation. The youngest of four children, her brothers and sister are Charles D., 24, Mishawaka; Rebeckah R., 23, a Wave stationed in Bainbridge, Md.; and Jack, 22, a member of the navy stationed at the Great Lakes base in Illinois. Her hobbies include working in the kitchen, sewing and reading. —WHS—CHARLES MURRAY Charles Edward Murray, son of Gregg and Joyce Mclntosh of Syracuse, is taking DECA and government at Wawasee this year. DECA is his favorite. Besides belonging to the DECA club he is a member of the ski club and the radio and television club. After graduating Chuck plans to go to International junior college. Lynne Murray is his 15 year old sister. She is a sophomore at Wawasee. Chuck works at the Holiday Inn. Baseball is his faverite sport. “Airport” is his favorite book. Flying, snow skiing and just having fun are his hobbies.
Vice-Chairman Named For KCH Founder's Fund
George H. Lenke, Jr., chairman of the Kosciusko Community Hospital Founder’s Fund Initial Gifts division, announced that Joseph F. Boggs of Mentone; Chester L. Clampitt, Jr., Atwood; and Wymond B. Wilson, M. D., Mentone; will serve as his division vice-chairman the $1.5 million dapital funds campaign. The Initial Gifts division is seeking financial support from members of the KCH “official family” which consists of the members of the KCH corporation and the county medical professionals. The volunteers in this division will kick off their fund raising activities next week. The Founder’s Fund campaign, headed by general chairman Robert D. Maish, president of Little Croyg Milling Company, Warsaw and vice-chairman Jay Alan Morgan, president of Zimmer Manufacturing Company, Warsaw, will publicly kick off late in February. The countywide fund raising effort comprises the first phase of financing for the estimated $6.5 million new hospital. The Kosciusko County Hospital Authority has authorized the sale of $5 million of revenue. Neither corporate nor individual tax money will be used to finance any portion of the 113 bed hospital. Boggs, partner in Boggs and Nelson Agency of Mentone, is secretary of the KCH board of directors. He is also active in several local organizations including chairman of the Comprehensive Health Planning Council of Kosciusko County, past director of the Chamber of Commerce, United Fund director, American Red Cross director, county crusade director for the Cancer Society in 1968, past member of the Franklin township advisory board and past member of the Kosciusko County school re-organization committee. He is also a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Kosciusko County, member of the Warsaw Area Board of Realtors and members of the Mentone Methodist church. Boggs, his • wife Betty and three children; Carolyn, 19, Susan, 18, and William, 14, reside on r 1 Mentone. Clampitt, who is employed by R. R. Donnelley and Sons, is a member of the KCH board of directors. He is also active as director so the Atwood Community Building, trustee of Harrison township, director of the Mentone youth league, and a local scouting leader. He has served as past secretary of the
Atwood Lions club, past president and treasurer of the Donnelley club and is a solicitor in previous United Fund campaigns. Clampitt and his wife Beverly and their five children; Terri Lynn, 13, Douglas William, 10, Carleen Sue, 7, Allyson, 4, and Stephen Scott, 3, live in Atwood. Dr. Wilson is a member of the KCH board of directors. Other local activities include membership in the Mentone Lions club, chairman of the administrative board for the Mentone Methodist church, a member of the American Medical Association, the Indiana State Medical Association and past president of the Kosciusko County Medical Society. Dr. Wilson is currently ch«f of staff at Murphy Medical Center. Wilson and his wife Arleda reside in Mentone.
