Club Has Yule Party The Perry Township Homemaker s Extension club Christmas party was held at the home of Mrs Stacey Archer Wednesday afternoon, with the 1971 officers as hostesses A pot-luck dinner was enjoyed followed by the business meeting in the charge of the president, Mrs Russell Wallace Mrs Forrest Slabaugh. Mrs Arthur Couts and Mrs Tom Hite read appropriate Christmas poems and articles Mrs Slabaugh also showed the members how to make several items for gifts Christmas gifts were exchanged and secret pals drawn for the coming year Mrs. Elbert Roe, the newly elected president, read a list of her committees for 1972. Twenty-seven members were present. -kGrand Adah Visits Ligonier Eastern Star Lodge 325 held a special program on December 7 for the visit of Grand Adah. Mrs Geraldine Walker, of Wolcottville Other outstanding guests were Bradley Swift, past grand patron of the state of Indiana, and Mrs. Martha Wood, District Deputy of District 21. Mrs. Gertrude Calbeck received her 50 year pin for the£> chapter on that evening. Members held a potluck supper at 6:48, followed by the special program.

2d Grover Smith Drive To Be Held On December 23 A fund drive for the Grover Smith family is being jointly sponsored by the Ligonier Civil Defense and the Calvary Temple church of this city. Dates of the drive are December Ist to December 23. Grover Smith Jr. was injured in a truck accident September 29 and is still in the hospital. He will be in a wheel chair for at least six months There are two small boys at home, ages four and seven. Donations may be sent to Mrs. Everett Conrad. 602 North Main St., Ligonier. Canisters will also be placed in Ligonier stores Kappa Sigma Tau Sorority Has December Meeting Kappa Sigma Tau Sorority held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Cal Miller in Goshen. Mrs. Roger Stahly acted as cohostess. Plans were finalized for the Christmas bazaar and the secret sister exchange. Philantrophic projects for the Christmas season were also discussed. Rotary Club Hears Assistant Principal Rotary club members heard Roger Schermerhorn, assistant principal of West Noble high school, talk on the development of an outdoor biology lab on the new school grounds. Ice fishing, for the benefit of the uninitiated, is a popular winter sport in this lake region and draws literally hundreds to the area. The ice at this stage, however, is too thin for the übiquitous fishing shack on the lakes.

Robert Davenport, former Ligonier resident, underwent major surgery in the McCray Memorial hospital, Kendallville, Monday. * A white racoon weighing 14 pounds was recently trapped by Don Buchtell of Cromwell. The animal was caught on the farm of Darrell Collins, west of Kimmell. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rex, former Ligonier residents, entertained Sunday at their home in White Pigeon. Mich., for Mr. and
Mrs. David Franks and family, Mrs. Lillian Fidler of Ligonier; and Mrs. Carl Franks of Wawaka. John Crothers of r 1 entered Lutheran hospital, Fort Wayne, Friday. He underwent heart surgery on Tuesday, Dec. 7. Mrs. Bea McCormick recently fell and suffered a broken ankle. She is now recuperating at her home in Ligonier. Unity Circle Meets At Clingaman Home The Unity Circle of Saint Andrew’s United Methodist church, Syracuse, held its December meeting in the home of Mrs. Ralph Clingaman with Mrs. William Brammer, Mrs. Hubert Anglemeyer and Mrs. Raymond Wilson assisting. A bountiful carry-in dinner preceded the meeting as 13 members joined at a decorated table. Mrs. Clingaman, chairman, presided for the business session at which time Mrs. Frank Herdrich reported on Christmas gifts for the state school in Fort Wayne which had been purchased and delivered. VISIT IN FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Smith of r 2 Syracuse spent the Thanksgiving holidays with their daughter and son-in-law, the Rick Bakers, and Joan Baker, all of Lake City, Fla. During their visit, they attended Walt Disney World where their son-in-law is presently employed for the Walt Disney World PGA Golf championship. Mr. and Mrs. Baker plan to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents in Syracuse. Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile and Mrs. Dale Stump of Milford worked in the Marion Veterans hospital gift shop Tuesday.
