14 YEARS AGO. DEC. 5,1957 Don Beer said this week he plans to move his commercial and retail egg business into his new building, situated just north of his former location on the old Milford-Syracuse road. Milford Public Library celebrates its 50th anniversary December 9-14 with Mrs. Charles V. Kerlin serving as librarian, a position she has held since 1926. Janie Mock entertained at her home near Dewart Lake recently in honor of her 13th birthday. A son, Andrew DeVore, was born Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Shearer. The baby weighed seven pounds and 13 ounces. Miss Janice Arlene Losee became the bride of George Thomas Bowler on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 1. Mrs. Ida Grove has been removed to her home in Milford from the Goshen hospital where she has been for several weeks after submitting to major surgery. Mrs. Noble Fisher, leader of die younger Brownies, held the regular meeting after school in the all-purpose room at the elementary school Tuesday evening with 27 members present. Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Morehouse, r 1 Milford, announced the engagement of their daughter. Miss Lucille Morehouse of South Sixth St., Goshen to Richard R. Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell S. Evans of 634 South Fifth St., Goshen. 24 YEARS AGO, DEC. 4,1947 Miss Ann Anglin, senior in Milford high school, was chosen by her class and the faculty to represent the school in the Good Citizenship Pilgrimage contest conducted every year by the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, t. Mrs. George Ogden became seriously ill on Sunday and was taken to the Goshen hospital for observation. Herbert (Bud) Felkner has passed his flight examination for private pilot’s license. A son, Dennis Ray, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stump at 11:42 a.m. Sunday at the McDonald hospital He weighed three pounds, six ounces and will be kept in the incubator for a while. A son, Michael Lee, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buhrt of Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Buhrt of near Milford are grandparents. Funeral services for Mrs. Harry Phend, 61, who died at her home early Saturday were held an Tuesday at the Methodist church. Mrs. Arch Baumgartner gave a birthday party Saturday afternoon for her son, Ronnie, who was four years old on that day. Hilda Dippon and Helene Lentz, both employed in Fort Wayne, were in Milford Monday visiting their parents. Mrs. Della Coy became ill Saturday and was confined to bed over Sunday. Mrs. Effie Barnes was admitted to the McDonald hospital Sunday for observation and treatment. Barnes, editor of this publication during the past ten years, has been appointed postmaster of the Milford office and took charge of the office December 1. Emory Klopenstine, an employee at the Milford Mfg. Co. plant, injured his hand last week while trying to repair a motor in the machine room. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gilbert of r 1 Milford are the parents of a son, Arthur Leßoy, born November 26 at Elkhart hospital. WEDDINGS: Miss Vera Fisher, and Leonard A. Clemens, Thursday morning; Olen Collins and Miss Ruth Arnold, Wednesday afternoon, November 25. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. , Henry Beer, who has been quite ill with an ear infection, shows some improvement. Walter Kasper and Harvey Hollar and families spent Thursday with the William Tusing family. Late Saturday night, chicken thieves visited J. W. Brower’s poultry house and stole 60 chickens. The 1932 auto license will have a green background with white lettering. Especially prepared paint will be used this year. Dr. H. C. Snyder, who fractured his foot recently, has been able to care for the majority of his patients, as his foot is now healing.
