LIGONIER NEWS By Rote Cunningham Carla Atz Is West Noble's Good Citizen Miss Carla Atz. a senior at West Noble high school, has been named the winner of the DAR Good Citizen contest. She will be taking a competitive examination covering local, state and national goverment and current events. From this test a county winner will be chosen to enter the state competition. Carla was one of tnree senior girls chosen by vote of the senior class. From these three girls she was selected by a vote of the faculty. Points considered were dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Carla is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Atz, 703 South Main street. She plans to attend college and major in special education for handicapped children. CELEBRATE ' ANNIVERSARY Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowles of Rome City held a surprise supper for them at the Crossroads Restaurant, Ligonier, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Sunday.
Homemakers Achievement Night At West Noble The annual extension homemakers achievement night was held Monday evening at the West Noble high school with around 200 women attending. Mrs. John Schermerhorn was in charge of an installation ceremony for all county and individual club officers. Entertainment was provided by the Cardinal Bell-ringers from the Cardinal Industrial Center and workshop for retarded children, at Warsaw. Mrs. Marion Mason was director of the group. Nineteen members from Perry Township attended the meeting. Mrs. Nelson LeCount, Mrs. Tom Froh, Mrs. Ken Brumbaugh, Mrs. Jerry Cunningham and Mrs. Alan Strong were in charge of arrangements. MONSANTO GIFTS TO U.F. HIGH Monsanto Co., Ligonier, was the highest in corporate and employee donations to the Noble County United Fund. The total gift was $6,082.60 with $5,082.60 contributed by 428 employees. There are 730 persons employeed by the company. The Monsanto Co. contributed SI,OOO.

Kendallville BPW Celebrates 45th Anniversary Mrs. Roy Chatfield, Mrs. Russell Wallace, Mrs. Herman Lung. Mrs. Paul Stiffner, Mrs. Robert Miller, Mrs. Ray Deal, Mrs. Fem Weirich and Mrs. Geraldine Kesler, members of the Ligonier Business and Profession Women’s club, attended the 45th anniversary celebration of the Kendallville BPW club last weds.
