Prep Loses Saturday | . n Game At Mishawaka
In a small lake of mud and pouring rain Wawasee Prep’s Lakers lost to 11th rated Mishawaka Marian at Tupper Field in Mishawaka Saturday The anxious offense of Prep found itself pressed in the opening minutes and gave up a

safety with a high center snap that went out of the end zone. Marian's fine offensive duo of Swanson to Parr worked steadily in the first quarter. With the score 9 to 0. Prep’s equally fine passing duo of Allen to Anderson connected for a 62-yard TD. with
Allen going over for the two point conversion. With the score 9 to 8, Marian’s kicking game showed the necessity for good field position. Prep couldn’t get enough running room and found that the elements didn’t help their cause. Marian scored on two 2-yard runs, and a six yard run. Prep got the final score of the half with an off tackle run of 76 yards by Greg Anderson; his fifth TD of the youngseason. The Prep offensive line proved itself capable of moving the much larger Knight’s defensive crew. Both teams went to the dressing rooms with the score in Marian’s favor, 28-16. The second half had the Laker’s on the move, with large holes in the Marian line, but neither team could get much done in the down pour of the third quarter. The quarter ended with a disputed pass from the center to the kicker on Marian's fourth down. The pass sailed over the kicker just as the clock ran out. The referee then signaled the end of the quarter, but would not allow the fourth down and so the fourth quarter began with another fourth down attempt for the home town Knights. The final two scores of the game were made on the Prep offense; one a 43-yard punt return by all-state candidate Bob Parr, and the second on a wobblypass that was picked off by tackle Don Block for six yards. Prep’s coach, Phil Jones, feels that the score doesn’t tell the real story of the game, and for the returning Lakers. September 23. 1972, won’t be here soon enough. It is a second guesser holiday. Easy to tell what to do after it is over but tough to get it done cm the field. Our Offensive Department didn’t do much right and one busted play killed us. The kick-off team got over anxious and thought they had it down close to the goal, but let him get away for a touch down. That took the field goal away from us and we couldn’t cross the goal line. The negatives will harp all week, so I shall talk about positives, and facts of the team. The team is thinking soundly and we shall surprise some good ball dub. The starting offensive unit is in doubt at this point. John Pont has some tough decisions to make. Obviously, the quarter backing is up for grabs, but there are things to be said for both boys. The fullback can only be St. Pierre, and the half back spot seems to be edging toward Hoffman, but then Porter is a good one and I feel is No. 1. The offensive line has only two experience linemen, and the young are getting better. The entire backup line is under classmen. The line will probably stay about the same, but I expect Harvey to play more — if McNulty plays. The two tight ends are Seniors, but Soph. Bill Armstrong catches passes better than any of them and a good change to play is coming his way. The defense played superbly
STAMPS Polish Folk Art Honored Continuing the stamp series popularizing Polish folk art the Polish Postal Authorities will issue a series of five stamps: 20 gr, 40 gr, 60 gr, 1.15 zl and 1.35 zl. Each stamp will present one of the original folk paper cutouts of various districts of Poland. The Polish folk cutouts made of paper appeared for the first time in the 19th Century and were made first only for the sake of decoration of walls, windows and shelves of the peasant’s house. The designs are known as Folk Artistic Paper Cutouts. First-day covers will be canceled with a commemorative postmark. All stamps will be multicolored and will be printed in sheets of 100 stamps. They will be printed on common paper, by rotogravure, steel engraving, and typog« raphy. The first day of issue will be Dec. 7, 1971, and the stamps will appear in repeated multimillion printings. The State Printing Works of Securities of Warsaw will do the printing. x Address your requests to “Ars Polona — Ruch,” P. 0.8. 1001, Warszawa. 1, ul. and has all year. It is now two Seniors and nine returnees strong. I mentioned the large amount of underclassmen for this year’s record. They will improve. Next year’s can be talked about later. As I write this I worry about Mike Fulk’s knee. It looked bad coming off the fidd. Soph. Jeff Barnett has been picking up experience and obviously will be on scholarship now. The defensive unit has three walk-ons performing very very well. Chuck Thomson at outside line backer and defensive captain. Bill Pipp who never played high school football and Jeff Barnett are the other walk-ons. Mike Heizman, though a Senior, is relatively green at Safety. He is doing a good job. Our defense is fine to watch, but the offense should give them some rest once in awhile. It is also fun to watch touchdowns — for Indiana. If you want to watch some great prospects, get to the Freshmen game this week end: It goes off Friday afternoon with the J.V. team against the Frosh. The quarterbacks are great and many. A real head hunter roams the line backer core. We have many good and big ones, but take a look at a good Negro athlete named Maurice Osborne. He is a potential All American. There are other potential All American Freshmen. We have the Blue Chippers in the Freshmen class.
5-cent, Germany; 12-cent, Britain; 20-cent, Japan, and 25cent, Liberia. Also issued is a 50-cent souvenir sheet showing scouts of many nationalities around a campfire as two girl guides watch. ♦ ♦ ♦ To promote tourism, Cyprus is issuing four stamps. Each stamp will show a particularly interesting landmark in travel poster style: 15-mil, Nicosia Castle; 25-mil, guard on an unidentified beach; 60-mil mountain highway, and 100-mil, St. Barnabas chapel. ♦‘ ♦ * Lebanon issued 50 and 100piaSter stamps in June. They picture the Dahr al-Bacheq Sanatorium in ancient-style painting. These stamps commemorate the services extended by the Lebanese Association against Tuberculosis.
