Mary, is out of the intensive care ward but is still very ill after being critically injured Tom and Debra Swick accompanied the Pierceton band to the state fair on Wednesday. Ralph Wertenberger was confined to his home over the week end due to illness S Mr and Mrs George Polinuk and daughters visited Friday evening with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Richard McConnell and Cindy Mrs John T. Camden visited Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs Merl Wertenberger.

Mr and Mrs. Harry Gradeless and daughters of Marion were Saturday dinner guests of Mrs. Ralph Wrigley. Mrs. Dan Wrigley was also a guest and spent the week end. Mrs. Wayne McCleary and Mr. and Mrs. David McCleary sang “Have Thine Own Way, Lord” as a special for worship service. Rev. John Bellante announced baptism will be held during worship service on September 19. All who wish to have children baptized should contact him. Miss Elaine Carlin, daughter of the Ray Carlins, will return this week to Upland where she is a sophomore at Taylor university. HOME FROM ORE. Mrs. Pearl Slabaugh of Nappanee have returned home from a three-week trip which included Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills of South Dakota, Jasper and Banff national parks in Canada. Vancover, B. C,, and Victoria on Vancover Island. From Canada they went to Portland. Ore., for the national rural letter carriers association’s 67th annual convention held on August 9-13. Leaving the convention they headed south to San Francisco on the roads that follow the Pacific coast line. This, they reported, was a very scenic drive. They headed home with stop offs at Reno. Nev ; and Salt Lake City. Utah; arriving home on August 22

Gordon-Workman Wedding Vows Exchanged Saturday

The Ligonier StrawberryValley Days kiddie parade will be on Labor Day, Sept. 6, at 10:30 am. It will proceed north on Main St. from Sixth St. to Fourth St. There will be four catagories. Novelty, floats, bicycles and pets — wagons. Each catagory will have first, second and third place winners. Also, a grand prize winner will be chosen. Winners will receive ribbons and money, and will be eligible to be in the grand parade at 2 p.m. Entries must be at the comer of Sixth and Main no later than 9:45 a m. to be judged. Area Man Arrested On Drug Charge D. Eugene May, 26, r 2 Leesburg, was arrested at 5 p.m., Friday, when police went to his home with a search warrant and confiscated a bottle of LSD liquid and a quantity of marijuana. He is charged with the unlawful sale of dangerous drugs (LSD). After receiving several complaints, state police made the search and the arrest. He is currently being held in the county jail with bail being set at $5,000. Indiana state police sgts., John Hammersley and Norman Pierce and troopers James Risner, Larry Yeiter, Joseph Baker and Larry Clodfelter made the arrest. Escape Injuries In Three-Car Crash Friday Syracuse and Ligonier residents escaped injuries in a three-car accident at 5 20 Friday evening about a mile and a half southeast of Goshen on U.S. 33. Mrs. Charlotte M. Blaser. 58, of r 1 Syracuse, stopped for road work near the new Skyline Corporation building. Kenneth R. Stone, 24, r 1 Ligonier, stopped his 1971 Ford behind the Blaser auto. As the two drivers started their vehicles in the line of traffic, Forest Moore of Ligonier drove his 1971 Oldsmobile into the back of the Stone car which in turn was shoved into the back of the Blaser 1968 Oldsmobile. Elkhart county policeman Cpl. Lowell Miller investigated and estimated damages at $2,100. LAKELAND LOCAL Mr. and Mrs. Paul Markley, Jr., and sons, Mrs. Markley’s mother, Mrs. May C. Rinker and Mrs. Jerry Rinker and son Chris, Syracuse, attended the state fair at Indianapolis last week.

2 Kenneth Moreland of Goshen sang “The Wedding Song.” and played the guitar. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Attending the couple were Mrs. Lyn Mauzy and Clifford Mauzy, both of Elkhart. A breakfast followed on the patio of the bridegroom’s parents. The bridegroom is a graduate of Syracuse high school and employed at Travel Equipment, Goshen.

Raymond Kehr Receives Training FORT CAMPBELL. KY. - Army private Raymond E. Kehr, Jr., 17, whose parents live at 112 W. Carroll St., Syracuse, recently completed eight weeks of basic training at the U. S. Army Training Center, Fort Campbell, Ky. He received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, combat tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and army history and traditions. Stanley Lent Completes Basic FORT CAMPBELL, KY. - Army Private Stanley L. Lent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordan L. Lent, of Etna Green, recently completed eight weeks of basic training at the U. S. New Salem By MRS. HERB MOREHOUSE SUNDAY SERVICES Otto Beer, Jr., of New Paris was speaker Sunday morning during the worship hour. Mr. Beer’s message on “Soul Winning” was taken from John 15:17. Mrs. Everett Tom, Jr., accompanied herself while singing “Even So Lord Jesus, Come.” Vere Wildman was devotional leader. Max Shively led the gospel singing Sunday evening after which Mr. and Mrs. Watson Goodman, president of the World Missionary Press, sang several duets and solos. Mr. Goodman showed pictures of his recent trip to the Holy Land. He also reported on the Prophetic Bible conference held in Jerusalem on June 15-18. Their children, Ruth and Harry, also assisted with the music and projector. —NS—STAR CLASS HAS MEETING The Star Sunday school class was entertained at a local restaurant Saturday evening. Grace for the meal was given by the teacher, Edwin Meek. After the meal, devotions were given by Herbert Morehouse. The business meeting was conducted by class president, Mrs. Vida Losey. Mrs. Everett Darr told of their visiting with Mrs. Arnold (Marjory) LeCount, former class members, at Mission, Texas, while on a recent trip. Those enjoying the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Meek.
