An article several weeks ago in the newspaper apparently caused much concern in a report of the Hoss Hills Bowmen planning an August 15 shoot and was to be a double animal round.
It appears many calls went in to the sheriff's department at Warsaw and the humane society, plus several to this newspaper, regarding shooting at live animals. An explanation given by bowmen tells us, and most persons should be familiar with a bull's-eye, that this is similiar in* the respect, that participants are' shooting at a silhouette of ani animal made from paper and thei double round informs persons it’ will not be a single round with 14 shots but just double In traveling on South Huntington street, one will see many improvements in removal of debris and stagnation in the scout cabin and dam area site by local Jaycee members. Speaking of the scout cabin, have you seen the gaily decorated trash barrels at the cabin? They are clever and attractive. Did you know the first election in Turkey Creek Township was held in April of 1836 with Henry Ward’s office being the voting place? 6 Evan Miles, E. F. Holloway. Joseph Bushong. William A. Mann, Addison Green, Amos King and George M. Ray. were the town officials when the town was incorporated on October 19, 1876. Ed Caskey, Syracuse junior high custodian and a Republican in good standing, has a political problem within his own family, he confesses. His son Dan, a custodian in the West Noble school and a Cromwell citizen, is running for the Cromwell town board on the Democratic ticket, and Dan's wife Sandy is running for Cromwell town clerk-treasurer, also on the Democratic ticket. Members of the Lakeland Kiwanis club were out in force Saturday selling drug alert badges, taking in well over S6OO. One real salesman who refused to take “No” for an answer, was Maurice Crow who stood in front of the Syracuse bank with a handful of dollar bills, as much as to say, “Anyone who gives me less than a dollar is a so-and-so.” The Star Sales Co. has a handsome upright player piano for sale which performs beautifully, thanks to the mechanical deftness of John Walker. The old piano wouldn't play and looked a sight until John got

In back are Dave VanLue, Kim Cripe. Tom Fribley and Pat Spearman.
ahold of it. You should see it now. and it plays like a champion! Is it true the stork is hovering over Klink’s Market? You've heard about police officers putting in long, boring hours on duty. Well, Syracuse police try to make the time go faster by having a little fun. At the B & PW Chuck Wagon dinner Saturday night, Earl Money obligingly escorted Mrs. Charles Moses since Mr. Moses was on duty and Mrs. Money was handling sales at the Chuck Wagon Bazaar. When Money pulled away from the Moses home, officer Joe Thornburg, on duty that night and alerted by Mr. Moses, pulled behind the Money car and “escorted” Money and Mrs. Moses to the high school where the dinner was being held. Uptown Syracuse merchants would like to see more uptown employees park their cars on the “upper deck” of the tow n parking lot, to make more parking space available on the main parking lot. Not a bad idea. Who are the two Dolly Sisters seen riding their tri-cycles in Turtle Bay Trailer Park? Much progress can be seen on the John Walker home at the edge of Syracuse and the hillside home on North Shore Drive of Syracuse Lake. Troop 28 of the Boy Scouts has enthusiasm with members preparing for a 50-mile canoe trip this week end on a predetermined river. Street work and repairs in the town continue to make marked improvements.

Look for a local nursery school to open here next month. Camp Grissom should be a busy place Thursday night for a Scouters Roundtable at 7:30. Townsman Chris Koher told fellow coffee drinkers at the breakfast hour this morning he would willingly place a bet that the proposed new county hospital would cost the taxpayers tax dollars “before it's all over." The Boat-In worship services, heldeachSunday morning at 8 on Lake Wawasee, had some pleasant visitors on Sunday. A camera crew from WANETV, Fort Wayne, moved in to film the happenings. The services which started on July 4, have had excellent attendance, we're told. The filming crew told Rev. August Lundquist the novel feature would be shown on the company’s sister stations. Speaker before the Syracuse Rotary club next Tuesday, Sept. 7, will be Dr. Otis Bowen of

Bremen. Rep. Bowen, who admitted at a recent press conference that running for the GOP nomination for governor of Indiana “has crossed my mind,” is very much in the fore-front for his party’s nomination.
