The new addition to the First National Bank is almost ready to be enclosed. What will the sidewalk superintendents do them. The passing of Willard (“Hap”) Charlton last week brings back memories. He was one of the three school bus drivers we had during our 12 years of schooling at Milford. Our sympathy goes to Mr. Charlton's family. The first day of school for students is September 1 with ' teachers reporting on August 30 and 31. 9 Marion Acton is the new Milford junior high school, principal. He and other Lakeland principals will be in their offices daily beginning August 16. Registration at the Milford junior high school is from 8 to 12 and 1 to 4 p.m. on August 25. 26 and 27. Students new to the corporation should check with the principal's office prior to the registration date. Lewis S. Immel is elementary school principal in Our Town. Students should register there on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 26 and 27. New students should check with the principal prior to August 30. Waubee Lake property owners will hold their annual meeting at the fire station in Our Town next Tuesday. All who own property at the lake are urged to attend. The following night, Wednesday, Aug. 11, the Republicans of Our Town will hold their caucus with Harold Young presiding They hope to fill a slate of officers for the November election. Both town board president Carl Duncan and board member Gerald Martin have stated they will not seek re-election. LAKELAND LOCAL Guests last week in the home of Mrs. James Stuckman at Milford were her daughters and a granddaughter. Mrs. Harold Gilliatt and Linnea of Indianapolis were at the Stuckman home Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs. Marshall Gay of Fort Wayne was there on Thursday.

87 Pints Os Blood Collected At WHS
A total of 87 pints of blood was collected at the first visit of the Red Cross mobile blood unit for the new fiscal year. The visit was held in the commons of the Wawasee high school, where 95 persons presented themselves as donors, 12 for the first time. Special needs of A neg, B neg, and Ab neg were met by donors who answered a special plea. Voyle Osborn of Leesburg received his five gallon pin, having given his 40th pint. Mr. Osborn, who was critically burned in a gasoline fire on July 1, ‘ 1957, and received Serum Albumin and whole blood, has more than replaced the 29 pints of blood he required. Captain David Wingard, who left earlier in the day for a year assignment in Republic of Viet Nam, received her three gallon pin. Mrs. Wingard, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Norman Uphouse, Winona Lake, worked at the Red Cross Center at Fort Knox, Ky., as a volunteer in the service to military programs and at the blood collection center. She is also a Red Cross instructor in first aid and water safety. She plans to teach physical education at Greenville college, Greenville, Hl., this next year. Milford Stations To Alternate On Sunday Opening The Milford service stations will take turns alternating on being open on Sunday. This has been a process in the past years during the fall months which the stations are now going to use full time. Only one station will be open each Sunday. The man who thinks he knows it all is a pain in the neck to those of us who really do.
Waubee Lake Property Owners To Hold Annual Meeting August 10
President Dennis Sharp has announced the board of directors of the Waubee Lake Property Owners Association, Inc., has set Tuesday, Aug. 10, as the date for the association’s annual meeting. Said meeting will be held at the Milford fire station at 7:30 p.m.

Honored At Shower Friday Miss Deanna Kunce of Cromwell was guest of honor at a miscellaneous bridal shower Friday evening in the Syracuse home of Mrs. Jesse Hann with Mrs. Perry Mast assisting. Appropriate bridal games were played after which Miss Kunce found her gifts on a table graced by a minature bride with a decor of pink and white, the bride-elects chosen colors, used throughout the evening theme. The 23 guests attending included Mrs. Virginia Kunce of Cromwell and Mrs. Mabel Walton, Syracuse, mothers of the betrothed couple. Others attended from Edwardsburg, Mich.; Elkhart, Dunlap, Milford, Cromwell, North Webster and Syracuse. Minature pink flowers decorated the cake served at the close of the evening. The couple will marry on September 4 at the Dutchtown Brethren Church.

Injured In Sunday Mishap Monroe M. Yoder, Jr., 32, of Ligonier, received treatment at Goshen hospital early Sunday morning for injuries sustained in a one-car mishap three miles east of Syracuse on the KosciuskoElkhart county line road at 12:05 a.m. Traveling east on the county line road, he reported running off the right side and continued for an additional 75-feet before striking a cement bridge head-on. Yoder suffered multiple lacerations to the mouth and chin, to the right elbow and a broken tooth. Damage to his auto was listed at $2,000. Indiana state trooper James Risner investigated.
