Prep's Sports Camp Ending

Wawasee Preps summer sports camps entered the concluding phase this week with the first of two one-week Basketball Camps, coached by Gene Sullivan and Tom O’Connor of Notre Dame fame Once again, the )camp is' drawing boys from many states; Illinois. Tippy Sailing Club To Host Two Regattas

The next few weeks will be busy ones for the Tippecanoe Sailing club with the hosting of two major sailing regattas. On August 7 and 8 the club will stage the second annual Tippecanoe Lightning Regetta. Lightning skippers from Indiana and Ohio will compete in three races on Saturday the seventh, and two races on Sunday. Registration for the Lightning Regatta will be from 8 to 10 on Saturday at the Tippy* Dance Hall on the South Shore of Lake Tippecanoe.

Women's Bowling Association Holds Fall Meeting

The fall meeting of the Lakeland Women’s Bowling association was held Monday evening with 58 members in attendance at Wawasee Bowl. President Mary Lou Dixon presided over the meeting at which time she appointed committees to serve for the coming season and various reports of officers and committees were presented. • Tournament rilles were discussed and voted upon and the - tournament team event will again be held on a league night. Members were informed of changes in WIBC rules and information supplied on the state tournament to be held in Fort Wayne in the spring. Conventions Maxine Pifer was elected delegate and Imogene Menzie, alternate, to the national convention at Kansas City, Mo., next spring. Both ladies are from the North Webster area. Mrs. Dixon. Sharon Gilbert, Kathryn Knisley and Phyllis Maresh will represent the local association at Fort Wayne for the state convention. The defending champion of this Regetta is Dr. Ken Wood of Muncie. On September 5 and 6 the club will host the eighth annual Labor Day Regatta. This series of races is open to all classes of sailing craft with trophies given in at least four categories. On Sunday. Sept. 5 there will be three races in all classes with two more races staged on Monday, Labor Day. Entries and inquiries for both regattas may be sent to Fleet Secretary, George Buckingham.

Bowling League Finishes Season The Friday Mixed Doubles Summer league finished their eight week session Friday evening with i smorgasbord dinner at Wawasee Bowl. Winning pitcher in the first game was Bryan Smith as Syracuse romped over Whitley, 10-8. In the second game of the tourney, Mentone defeated Syracuse, 10-6. Fine defensive catching was shown by Stan Kroh and good hitting by Keith Cripe, adding the high-lites of the day.
