The building is 20 x 30 and is two-stories high. It is an original log house thought to have been part of the land grant to the Strombecks at North Webster. It was built in the 1850’s and was taken down piece by piece and numbered so it could be reconstructed as it was originally built. Mrs. Lois Burkett is the store's manager. - This quaint store is a?must for persons visiting North Webster and especially for those who dine at the M and M restaurant. 9 »»«■ ~y*~ T j I . Tired of the same old menu day in and day out? Why not give mom a day off and take the family out to dinner? The Lakeland area boasts many outstanding restaurants with taste tempting menus. Some must be reached by car while others are located near the water’s edge and may be reached by boat, pontoon or other means of transportation. Some are fancy. Some are not. Some are for the entire family. Some are for adults only. Some are come as you gre. Some prefer the women in dresses and the men in shirts and ties. Many display signs “No shirt — no shoes — no enter.” Others welcome all. Johnny’s Rendezvous Lounge is something new this summer. It’s located at the top of the Kale Island Beacon. The Beacon is famous for its prime steaks and ocean fresh sea food and the kitchen is open nightly til midnight so it’s the place to go for a late night snack. They have a family room and offer one of the best menus in the area. Want something different in the way of dining? Why not try Foo , and Faye’s where you can enjoy Cantonese food at its best, i American food too is found on the i menu of this .very busy > restaurant so if mom and dad want Chinese food and the youngsters prefer good old I American fare it’s fine with the '* cooks at Foo and Faye’s. They are open from 4 to 10 p.m. week days and 12 to 10 p.m. oh Sunday. They are closed on Monday. Reservations are required. Many people come from miles around to enjoy the quaint setting of this Wawasee Village restaurant. If you’re in the mood for a snack why not pay a visit to the Palace of Sweets. This is a new business located in downtown North Webster and was opened by Mr. and Mrs.

Seven high backed booths are found on the right side of the Palace. Tables and chairs are in the center with the serving counter on the left of the room. Black and white with touches of orange were used in the color scheme and add much to the heavy medieval motif of the Palace. <eafood Lil’s Anchor Bar in uptown Syracuse serves delicious dinners six days each week. They are closed on Sundays. Steaks, chicken and fish are listed as this restaurant’s specialities. If you are out in your boat on Lake Wawasee and are looking for a place to eat why not try the Frog where you can meet your friends and enjoy some of the best food to be had in the Lakeland area. Another place where you can go in your boat while enjoying the waters of Lake Wawasee is Louie’s Bar and Grill. Chicken is the specialty here. Carry-outs are also available. Also featured on the menu are delmonico steaks and tasty sandwiches. There will soon be something new at the M and M Restaurant located on state road 13 south of North Webster according to Fred Clark It will be the M and M’s Pioneer Village. The store to be called Louie’s General Store will house stoneware, chinaware, copperware. enamelware, ironware, candles, soaps, candies, jams, jellies, etc. When the project is complete an entire Pioneer Village will have been re-constructed Another log building has been torn down and numbered. It is now ready for re-construction. This second building was built in 1849. TheM and M is a popular place for club meetings and banquets and features char-broiled steaks, prime rib of beef, a varied selection of sea foods and it’s own Hossier fried chicken plus Indiana’s finest salad bar.

MEDIEVAL SETTING — These high backed booths not only offer privacy to those who enjoy the ice cream treats at the Palace of Sweets in North Webster they also complete the medieval setting of this newly opened business. Icecream, sandwiches and pizza top the menu of the Palace of Sweets which is located across the street from Camelot Square in downtown North Webster.

This reporter will venture the M and M will be even more popular now with it’s Pioneer Village. Want to eat in your car? Then, it’s the Mary Ann Drive-In where delightful car hops serve you. Why not try the Mary Ann Burger which features one-third of a pound of hamburger. This drive-in also offers chicken and shrimp baskets and features carry out service if you want to have your food cooked for you but prefer to eat at home. Now, we’ve offered some suggestions so why not put your imagination to work again as there are many more good eating establishments to choose from, all with delicious food on their menus.
