Two Full Days Os Activities Members of the Leesburg Merchants Association under the direction of president Mrs. James (Millie) Engle af*e planning a festival called Leesburg Days for this coming Friday and Saturday, July 9 and 10. , During the two-day event various clubs and organizations will sponsor a white elephant sale, a nerf ball stand, a homemade ice cream stand, a chicken bar-be-que, a soft ball tournament and a teen age dance. The Leesburg Eastern Star ladies are joining in the fun with a white elephant sale. Mrs. Jack Hetier is chairman of the event and reports hot dogs will also be sold by the OES ladies. 1 The United Methodist church Youth Fellowship under the guidance of Larry Bishop will operate a nerf ball stand. While the WSCS United Methodist church women will hold a rummage sale. The Leesburg Plain Farmerettes 4-H girls plan to have a stand in operation with Paula Albert as chairman. The Leesburg Homemakers club will be serving homemade ice cream, cake, pie and coffee at the fire station. Parade The annual Leesburg Merchants parade will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday with Mrs. Chris (Ida) Kammerer in charge. The Tippy Lee club will conduct baazar games and the Leesburg 4-H boys under Dennis Polk will have a Pepsi stand with ball pitch and ring toss. Brother Noah will present a live concert from 9 to 11:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday will feature the softball tournament conducted by Howard Lursen of the Leesburg Youth Program. The first games begin at 10 a m. and 2 p.m. with the Reds, Mets, Cubs, Twins and Socks participating. The Teen dance will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. with the Ellison 6 from Warsaw providing music. Also set for Saturday is the Leesburg Lions club’s chicken bar-be-que with John Plank as chairman. *

WMS Meets At Waubee Lake The WMS of the First Brethren church met July 1 at the Waubee Lake home of Mrs. Glen Bixler. The leader, Mrs. Herbert Felkner. showed beautiful colored slides of Rome and gave a lesson on the article, “I Will Build My Church Through Prayer.” During the business session conducted by the president, Mrs. Jerald Radcliff, gave a report cm the state conference which was held at Shipshewana Lake. Promoted To Airman First Class PERU — Marvin Flanery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Creed C. Flanery, r 1 Claypool, has been promoted to airman first class in the U. S. air force. Airman Flanery, an airframe repair specialist, is on duty at Grissom AFB. He is in a unit of the strategic air command, America’s nuclear deterrent force of long range bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles. He is a 1969 graduate of Warsaw Community high school. The airman’s wife. Sandra, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Evans, Jiy, r 3 Warsaw. NewiExhibit Building Completed Construction of the new 4-H Exhibit Building on the Elkhart county 4-H fairgrounds has been , completed. After rain caused extensive damage and ruin to many exhibits displayed in a tent last summer, a stable building became a necessity. To help meet construction costs, 4-H members are holding fund raising projects.
