An additional highlight of the program was the presentation of flags to the junior high school by the American Legion Auxiliary unit 223. American flags were presented for each classroom and Indiana flags were presented for the social studies classrooms. A buffet supper was held in the Miller home following the Sunday service, in honor of Susan’s graduation. STANLEY RUSSELL MIKEL The son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mikel r 2 Syracuse. Russ plans to enter Purdue universityin the fall. He was honored on graduation day with a reception in the Mikel home following the commencement sen-ices. Dave is undecided as to what he will do after he is out of school. GLENN DEVON DAVIS Glenn was the guest of honor at a party given by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Devon Davis, r 1 Milford, Sunday. There were about 20 people who helped honor Glenn. PHILIP KENT BENDER Mr and Mrs. Francis Bender. Milford, had their family on Sunday to honor their son. Phil, who graduated Sunday from Wawasee high school. Approximately 20 people were there. Phil plans to attend Taylor university in the fall. DAVE CORY Dave was honored at a buffetreception given by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Cory, Milford, at their home on Sunday after graduation. There were 25 relatives and friends who attended. The hosts were assisted by their daughter, Mrs. Fred Weisser and Mrs. Dewey Fox. BARBARA ZIMMERMAN Barbara, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Zimmerman.

Milford, was honored after commencement Sunday at a reception at her parents home. There were 35 guests attending. Barbara is leaving Saturday for Kansas City. Mo., where she will be in training four weeks to become an airline stewardess. MARIA A. D. FERREIRA Maria Aparecida Dias Ferreira of Jundiae-Sao Paulo, Brazil, an exchange student residing with the Thomas Prickett family at Syracuse, will be returning to her home in Brazil July 20 and has accepted a secretarial position with General Electric. She was honored with a surprise buffet reception in the Prickett home following commencement Sunday. THOMAS DALE MILLER Tom Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller. Jr., of Syracuse, will enter Grand Rapids Junior college in Michigan in the fall. His parents honored him with an open house at their home in Wawasee Village Sunday eveihg following commencement. WILLIAM BRIAN CUTTER William Cutter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Cutter. 70S North Huntington street, Syracuse, will continue his education in the fall at Ball State university. bki ■B M Br j TO U of NM —Jay deSomer shown above with Wawasee wrestling coach Terry Frank has received a 11.000 grant and a 11.000 loan from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, N. M. Both grant and loan are renewable each year he attends the university. deSomer wrestled in the 119 class this past season and had a 21-3 record. He was the sectional champ in his class and the Northern Lakes Conference champ. Jay tied for 13th place in the state and was fourth in the regional. He made Lakeland's quickest pin — :25 seconds against Lakeland in 1971 and tied with Roger Korenstra for the best varsity record 46-13 in- the 1969-71 seasons.

He also plays in a band. He was honored with a reception following the Sunday commencement at the Bonar Lake home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carr. Hex Rural Extension Club Meets Tuesday The Hex Rural Extension Homemakers club met Tuesday at the Hex Grange. Meeting was opened with song of the month. “Take Me Out to the Ball game.” The club creed and pledge were led by president Mrs. Milton Shuder. Lesson Mrs. Fred Johnson narrated the informative lesson on party snacks which was demonstrated by Donna Hibschman. The snacks were then sampled. Mrs. Don Cunningham and Mrs. Richard Plikerd, Sr., were hostesses for the day. Hazel Kline of Milford attended the Northridge commencement exercises last Tuesday night. Her nephew, Michael Rogers, was a graduate. Following the program a reception was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Rogers. Mrs. Hazel Kline of Milford called on Mrs. Ray Nipple at Benton last Saturday. Mrs. Nipple has been ill.
