Herman Miller Funeral services were held Friday for Herman Miller, 55, of r 3 Nappanee and father of Mahlon Miller of r 1 Syracuse He died on Tuesday at his home of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Miller, a member of the Yellow Creek-Wisler Mennonite church, was born in Union township on November 2,1915, to Abraham and Mary (Ramen Martin. On September 5.1936. he was united in marriage to Sarah S. Martin and she survives. Also surviving are seven other children. Mrs. Orie Miller of r 3 Nappanee, Henry Miller of r 1 Nappanee. Miss Mary’ Martin of Ephrata. Pa., Mrs. Loyal Martin of Bristol, and Ora, Inez and Sharon, all at home, nine grandchildren, three brothers and one sister Burial was in the church cemetery Miss V. Lillian Klein Miss V Lillian Klein. 73. of 64 McKinley Avenue. Kenmore. New York, and known in the Syracuse community, died on June 1 at Niagara Falls. N Y Born at Garrett on August 13. 1897. she was the daughter of Mathew and Minnie (Searfoss) Klein and served as a clerk in a Kenmore department store A brother Charles N Klein of Reseda. Gerald of r 1 New Paris and Dr. William, a missionary in India; four daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Joan) Sizemore of New Pans, Mrs Earl (Evelyn) Stouder. r 1 Nappanee, Mrs Bruce (Dorothy) Baker of r 1 Milford and Mrs Richard (Julia) Brookins, r 5 Goshen, one sister. Mrs Fred (Mary) Gall of r 4 Syracuse; 27 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Police Investigate Four Crashes During Week End

Damage was listed at S3OO by Syracuse police at 11:30 p.m. Friday when Henry A. Schmidt of Milford backed his auto into a tree in the 600 block of Harrison street. Schmidt was driving a 1969 Pontiac two-door hardtop. Minor damage was reported at 2:55 p.m. Saturday as Mrs. James Stucky of Syracuse, in attempting a right turn into the Syracuse cemetery at Mill and High streets, was hit in the left rear fender by a vehicle driven by Fred Traster. 318 North Indiana, Syracuse. Damage to the Stucky vehicle was $75 with same amount to the left front fender of the Traster car. Beverly Langland, r 2 Milford, from David William La ng land. Grandville. Mich. The couple was married on September 21. 1968 and separated on January 24. 1970. The plaintiff seeks custody of two minor children. Divorces Granted Oralia P. Coppes. Pearl street, Syracuse, at 7:50 am. Saturday for a breathing problem. Oxygen was administered and he was taken to Goshen hospital by private ambulance. Firemen and the first aid unit responded to a call at 6:57 Sunday evening at the intersection of the county line road north of Syracuse and Indiana 13 for a three vehicle crash injuring seven persons and killing one. Gasoline was washed from the highway by firemen. Both units answered a call at 3:06 p.m. Monday for a two-car accident at the curve on the north shore of Lake Wawasee onefourth of a mile east of Wawasee Boat Company with injury to one man. . No estimate was given in damages for a car fire at 12:20 p.m. Monday at Wawasee Heights. Annual Memorial Day Parade Held At Syracuse Monday

The annual American Legion sponsored Memorial Day parade and program at Syracuse was held Monday afternoon. Assembly for the parade was at the main square of town for the march to the cemetery The following took part: American Legion Post 223 at Syracuse and it’s auxiliary and color guard. F. Troop color guard of Millersburg American Legion Post 484, Syracuse Fire department. Lakeland Post 1342 of V.F.W. and its color guard. Women’s Relief Corps. 278. of Syracuse, and a number of Syracuse Camp Fire Girls.

Annual Syracuse High School Alumni Banquet Well Attended

The spring theme was used on tables of the Syracuse school gymnasium Saturday night for the high school alumni banquet attended by 240 persons including a number of previous teachers and class valedictorians. Rev. Lee Cory gave the invocation and dinner music was by Mrs. Harold Gallahan at the organ. Recognition President Harold Kline opened the meeting following the bountiful buffet dinner. Chris Koher. Jr., vice president, acted as toastmaster at which time all attending teachers and valedictorians were recognized. Class rolls were called with some in attendance dating to the 1905 graduating class. Special recognition went to classes celebrating their 50th reunion. 40, 35 and 25 years. A single red rose was presented to each graduate attending the 50th reunion and all others dating back to the 1905 graduate. Election During election of officers. Mrs Betty Dust was re-elected as secretary for another year as was Mrs Jack Stoelting as treasurer. Vice president Koher will head the association as president and Miss Priscilla Rhode will take the office of vice president. Harold Kline will remain as a consultant. Trestrail, 26, Leesburg, and David -.L, Long, 18, Warsaw, collided at the intersection of South Bronson street and East Winona avenue in Warsaw last Wednesday. Long was attempting to make a left hand turn from Bronson on to Winona and had to stop suddenly to yeild to oncoming traffic. Trestrail was following and was unable to stop in time resulting in the rear-end collision. Damages were estimated at S4O to Trestrail’s car and S6O to Long’s by Warsaw city police sgt. Eldon Werstler.
