HAROLD WILLIAM (Bill) DARR Gulf Station Owner Dies Harold William (Bill) Darr. 45. of r 4 Syracuse and a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area passed away of an apparent heart attack at 11:30 pm. Monday at Goshen hospital where he had been admitted four hours Earlier. Death was unexpected, however, he had suffered a heart attack in November of last year. Mr Darr was bom on October 13. 1925 at Syracuse, the son of Lester and Lydia (Miller) Darr. He was owner of the Gulf Service Station in Syracuse and earlier served as a distributor for the Jones Dairy, later the Crystal Dairy He was a member of the Syracuse Church of God, Syracuse Masonic Lodge, Syracuse American Legion Post 454, volunteer fire department, Scottish Rite. Valley of Fort Wayne and veteran of WW II with the 11th air force Survivors include the wife, the former Donna belle Hart; two sons. Danny of Cromwell and Dennis, at home; two daughters. Dixie and Debbie, both at home; two grandchildren, and aunts and uicles Services will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Harris funeral home with Rev Walter .Burcham officiating Burial will be in Syracuse cemetery. , Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p m Wednesday and until service time The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 7-9 at the funeral home on Thursday. Sunday afternoon at Goshen hospital where she had been a patient for one day. Death was due to complications. She had been ill for one week. Mrs. Unrue was born on January 15, 1877 in Calhoun county. Mich., to Issac and Hanna (Wright) Closson and resided at Elkhart for over 40 years prior to making her home with the Syracuse daughter in 1966. Her husband, Sylvester Unrue, died on October 7, 1945. They were united in marriage on April 7. 1897. She whs a member of the Riverside Christian church at Elkhart and of the church missionary society. Other survivors include one son. Charles of Tucson. Ariz. ; two other daughters, Mrs. Betty Phelps of Elkhart and Mrs. Adam (Ruth) Mollenhour, Tampa Terrace. Fla.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Services were held at 2:30 today (Wednesday) at the Harris funeral home with Rev. William Collier of Osceolo officiating Burial was in Syracuse cemetery. Mrs. Lydia Deardorff Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock today (Wednesday) for Mrs. Lydia Bell Deardorff. 99, of 401 South Main street. Syracuse. A lifetime resident of the community. she passed away Sunday afternoon at her home. She had been in failing health for several years Mrs. Deardorff was born on October 13, 1871 between Syracuse and Milford on the Syracuse-Milford road, to Samuel and Ellen (O'Dell) Traster Her husband, Jerome Deardorff. died on Februrary 20. 1925 She was a member of the Saint Andrews United Methodist church. Syracuse, and of the church WSCS and WCTU. Survivors include three daughters. Miss Ida Deardorff, with whom she resided on South Mam. Mrs. Harry (Margery) McClintic of Portage. Mich., and Mrs D. J. (Rebecca) Julier, Syracuse and Florida; one grandchild. three greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Rev. August Lundquist officiated and burial was in Syracuse cemetery
Mrs. Alva Banghart Services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Ethel F. Banghart of Warsaw, mother of Mrs. Wilbur (Vivian) Niles of Syracuse. Mrs. Banghart, 75, died Sunday at Murphy Medical Center. She was born on May 28,1895 at Chicago, 111., to William E. and Margaret M. (Kimmell) Aitken and resided for the past 58 years at Warsaw. Her husband, Alva, to whom she was married December 3, 1913, preceded her in death December 10. 1959. Mrs. Banghart was a member of the First Christian Church of Warsaw and the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to the Syracuse daughter, she is survived by one other daughter, Mrs. John (Eugenia) Baldwin of Fort Wayne; two sons. Norman and Earl, both of Warsaw; 11 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren. One brother preceded her in death. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery. Gordon J. Mellinger Gordon J. Mellinger, 59. of r 1 Syracuse, passed away on April 20 at Elkhart General hospital where he had been a patient for one day. Death was due to complications following a six month illness. Mr. Mellinger was bom on July 25. 1911 four miles southeast of New Paris to Jesse and Cora (Lindenman) Mellinger. He was a farmer and employee of the Martin Feed Mill. He was a member of the New Paris Church of the Brethren and the Lions dub there. He also served as a member of the board of directors of the New Paris Telephone Company. Surviving in addition to the widow, the former Anna Pippenger to whom he was married in 1933. are a daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Sue) Haines of White Pigeon. Mich.; four grandchildren and one sister. Mrs. Harry Searfoss of Goshen. Services were held Thursday at New Paris and burial was in New Pans cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the W’rightYoder funeral home at Nappanee for Leßoy Holloway, 78. 752 S. Main street. Nappanee. Holloway, father of Mrs. Lawrence (Bud) Sawyer of Waubee Lake, had been ill for some time. Death came at his home at 2 a m. Tuesday. He was bom August 4, 1892 in Perkins county. Neb.. «and married Ruth Renna on September 19, 1923. The deceased was a member of the United Methodist church, the Veterans of World War I and was employed for 33 years at Lamb Brothers Co., in Nappanee. Surviving with the wife and

William Kidwell will officiate at the senices and burial will be in the Nappanee cemetery. Oscar V. Plank Oscar V. Plank, 84, of Middlebury, father of John Plank, Leesburg, died Saturday in the Fountain View Nursing home, Elkhart, after a 19-month illness. He was bom August 23,1886. On August 20. 1910, he married the former Ella Beck. She passed away July 4, 1963. Mr. Plank was an electrian. He moved from Topeka to Middlebury in 1960. Additional survivors are three daughters. Mrs. Roy Phillips, Elkhart, Mrs. Onille Blosser and Mrs. Franklin Misheir, both of Middlebury; another son. Kenneth of Goshen; 14 grandchildren; and 28 greatgrandchildren. —■ Rev. Samuel Troyer conducted the services which were held at the First Mennonite church in Middlebury at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in the Maple Grove cemetery at Topeka. Jesus Salazar 111 Jesus Salazar 111, 18-month-old son of Jesus and Bertha (Ramieniez) Salazar. Jr., Milford, died Saturday, at 1:10 a m. at Goshen hospital where he was admitted Thursday. Death was due to meningitis. The infant was boro in San Antonio. Tex., on October 27.1969 but lived in Milford most of his life. Survivors are the parents and a sister at home. The body is being taken from the Mishler funeral home to the Max Martinez funeral home, San Antonio for funeral services and burial. Mrs. Estella Swartz of Syracuse was admitted to Goshen hospital Tuesday morning. Orval Breedlove, North Webster, is a patient at Whitley County hospital. Angela Augsburger, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Augsburger, Jr., Waubee Lake, remains a patient in Goshen hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Court News Executor Robert Condo Willits of r 4 Syracuse has been named executor of the last will and testament of his mother, Charlestine Willits. She died March 8, 1971. Administrator Charles Symensma of r 1 New Paris has been named administrator of the estate of Guy Lovan Symensma of Syracuse who died on April 18, 1971. Jesse G. Hernandez, 29> Milford, was fined $74 and sentenced to six months at the Indiana state farm on a charge of public intoxication. Other charges of disorderly conduct and drawing a dangerous weapon were dismissed; George Dabinsky, 46, Leesburg, was fined S2B on a charge of disregarding a traffic signal.
