Road Rally 71 Held Sunday Afternoon By Explorer Scouts
The Exploring Grand National Safe Driving Road Rally was held Sunday afternoon. April 25 The Road Rally was sponsored by the Explorer Division. Pioneer Trails Council. Explorer Post’ 67. Team members were Jim Holtz and Peter Holtz They will represent the Explorer Division Pioneer Trails Council, at the National Road Rally Activity in Detroit. Mich., in July this year. The next road rally event for the Explorer Division. Pioneer Trails Council will be in October of this year The O. R Marshalls are now at home at their Indianapolis home.

GEORGE NAYLOR Mental Health Conference To Be Held On April 27 Mrs George Naylor, national authority on voluntary service will keynote the northern regional volunteer conference of the Mental Health Association in Indiana to be held at Manchester college. April 27. She has been a consultant to the department of health, education and welfare in Washington, D. C . on the subject of volunteers, their recruitment, training, motivation and goals. She has served in a similar capacity as an • advisor to the governor of New York and at present holds the title of director of volunteer services. New York State Depart ment of Mental Hygiene. She has travelled abroad extensively and has been a resident of Greece. Indonesia. Thailand and East Pakistan, her late husband being an official with the United Nations. Volunteers who serve with the Mental Health Associations, a citizen ‘group will join them in a discussion of such things as community services, off-ground activities and problems in working with the aged and infirmed. adolescents and children and retarded persons Mrs Gaud Stahl of Pierceton is the local mental health chairman. Mr and Mrs. Robert L. Groves of Lafayette, have been visiting in the home of Mr and Mrs. Charles Kerlin for a week. The Groves have just returned to Indiana after spending the past four months in the southwest and Mexico They were on a Mexican tour for 37 days.

Area College Students Benefit From Educational Trust Fund
Kosciusko county* high school graduates are fortunate indeed that farsighted benefactors realized both the need for higher educations and the heavy expense which is incurred. To aid students in their efforts, the B. Franklin Ringle and Eleanore M. Ringle educational trust and Murphy college fund will award nonrepayable scholarships of nearly ten thousand dollars to area students late this spring. The McDonald memorial fund aids students by granting lowinterest student loans when needed with extended repayment terms The Ringle Trust was created by Mr. and Mrs. Ringle, long term residents of Winona Lake to assist students obtain higher educations. Mr. Ringle operated a furniture in downtown Warsaw continuously from 1925 until his retirement in 1947. The Murphy college fund was established by the w ill of the late Dr. Samuel C. Murphy, a promjpent Warsaw physician, who founded the local Murphy Medical Center in 1941. Since this fund was established, over $30,000 has been awarded to area students. High school seniors interested in applying for either of these two scholarships may obtain a brochure setting forth application requirements either

Dr. Angus McDonald, another prominent Warsaw physician for many years, realizing the need for low cost student loans to assist worthy, needy students to obtain either a high school, college or professional education established the McDonald memorial fund. Application for loans may be made to the Superintendent of the Warsaw Community Schools at any time of the year. Students are required jp earn at least one-third of the amount they borrow from this fund, either in cash or its monetary equivalent. Included in the second district are Kosciusko county, Marshall county, most of Elkhart county, a comer of Wabash county including North Manchester, part of Starke county, Pulaski county, part of Cass county, White county, Tippecanoe county which includes the city of Lafayette, Jasper count and Newton county on the Illinois line.
March Sale Os Savings Bonds Up From 1970 Joe Ettinger, chairman of the Kosciusko county U.S. Savings Bonds committee has received a report revealing that the County’s Savings Bonds sales for March were $56,702 compared with $45,271 for the corresponding period of last year. Indiana sales for March were $11,867,222 and $11,224,776 for a like period of 1970 —a gain of 5.4 per cent. Fifty-seven of Indiana’s 92 counties reported sales gains for the month when compared with sales of March, 1970. Accumulative sales for the year totaled $38,216.169 — 27.1 per cent of the yearly quota of $141,200,000 for the state of Indiana.
