K JaH GR AND PRIZE WINNER Jenny Cox Wins Talent Show At Syracuse School The Syracuse junior high school drama club under the direction of sponsors Mrs Allene Froehlich and Mrs. Judy Firebaugh, held its first talent show Monday, March 29 Contestants were divided into three groups musical, gymnastics and skits A grand prize was awarded to the best overall entry Judges Robert Hamman, Mrs Robert Day, Mrs Joel Ribbins and Charles Haffner chose the following winners: Musical - Connie Hoopingarner playing a piano solo • Gymnastics — Kim Beezley and Sandy Rinker in a baton twirling duet Skit Computer dating with Joe Hickman Scott Anderson. Wednesday 3:25 p.m. — North Webster GAA Community Hands Meet March 31 By DENISE DARR Members of the Community Hands 4-H club met on March 31 for their monthly meeting. Elaine Hoopingarner was in charge of the opening with the pledge to the 4-H flag led by Janet Weaver and the pledge to the American flag led by Allen Coy. Group singing was led by Leslie Shenefield and Janet Weaver Connie Hoopingarner gave the secretary’s report and Dennis Darr gave the treasurer s report Health and safety remarks were given by Becky Bush and Calvin Bush gave a report on gardening. Mrs Don Davidsen was present and talked on awards. A total of 20 members were present. All enjoyed the recreation which followed the meeting L. B. RASSIS HAVE GUESTS j Mrs William Yturriaga of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. William Cobb of Jefferson. lowa, have been visiting with their sister. Mrs L. B Rassi. and Mr Rassi of r 1 Milford. A family dinner was held noon at the Rassi home. Guests included the hosts' daughters and their families — Mr and Mrs. Harold Yeater and daughters of New Paris. Mr and Mrs John Roser and daughters cf Fort Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs Steven Baumgartner and family of Milford Other callers in the Rassi home were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schick and family of Morrison. 111. Mr. Schick is a nephew of Mrs Rassi Mrs Yturriaga attended a convention in Washington. D C., before coming to Milford

KATHERINE DAUSMAN Katherine Ann Dausman is the daughter of Bill Dausman of Pienjeton. This year she is taking government, senior English, senior home ec and occupational foods Home ec is her favorite subject. Kathy is a member of the Future Homemakers of America, gymnastics club and GAA She is in the 4-H horse and pony club. She has both 4-H and open class awards in horsemanship After graduating she would like to go into airline training. A brother. Dan, is currently working in a factory apprenticeship program, another brother. Dave, is 15 and is a sophomore and a third brother. Jay. is in the sixth grade at North Webster. Kathy works at the Grassy Creek restaurant. Basketball, football and handball are her favorite sports. “Iron Weed is her favorite book Her hobbies are the uneven bars, horses and-cooking. - WHS—EMILY BELL Emily Ann Bell is the daughter of Dester and Joann Bell of North Webster. This year she is taking general business, government, black history. Russian civilization. concert band and English 12. Government. English and band are her favorite subjects. Millie has been in GAA and band for four years, pep band two years; and Spanish club, pep club and choir each one year. She has participated in music contests for two years and has band contest awards. She is a member of the United Methodist church at North Webster 1 This WHS senior plans to work after graduation and possibly attend college later. The eldest of four children she has two younger sisters, Mitzi. 16. a sophomore and Paula. 14. in the eighth grade at North Webster; and a younger brother. Wesley. 13. in the seventh grade Millie works at ‘Land O’ Lakes” sporting goods in North Webster. Swimming and basketball are her favorite sports. Her favorite book is “Love Story”. Playing the guitar and reading ate her hobbies. -WHS- | JILL GEIGER Jill Luree Geiger is taking government. English, office education lab this year at WHS. Sie is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. D. Geiger of North Webster and states her favorite subjects are shorthand and typing which are included in lab and the Spanish language she took in previous years She has been a member of the yearbook staff for two years and the national honor society for one year After graduating she plans to attend Indiana university. She would like to be a legal secretary. Jill has an older sister. Dawn, who is 30 and is living at home
and a brother. Brian, who is seven and in the first grade. She works at Thornburg’s Drug Store in North Webster. Water skiing is her favorite sport. “Man Child in the Promised Land" by Caude Brown is her favorite book. Her hobbies are reading and traveling. -WHS—CAROLYN RAPP Carolyn Sue Rapp states chemistry is her favorite subject. Carolyn is the very active daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin E Rapp of Milford. She is taking government, home ec. band, chemistry and English this year at Wawasee. Carolyn has been in band for four years, choir for one year, a cheerleader and a member of the cheer block for four years, the drama club for three years. Spanish club for one year.- GAA for three years. FHA for one year and served as a lifeguard for one year. She has also been in 4-H for nine years, serving as a junior leader for four years and is a member of the Milford Christian church. Carolyn holds music awards. After graduating, she plans to attend beauty college in Fort Wayne. She is the youngest in a family of four girls. Her older sisters are Janice, a teacher in the North Miami School District; Mrs. Roger i Judy i Kochersperger. a beautician who resides in Fort Wayne with her husband; and Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Johnson whose husband is stationed in Hillside. Md., with the navy. Basketball and football games are this cheerleader’s favorite sports. “Love Story" by Erich Seagal is her favorite book. Her hobbies are sewing, playing the piano and water skiing. ' - WHS—DONALD E. MAY .Another of the active members of the senior class at Wawasee high school is Donald E. May. youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon May of Milford. Donn has participated in football four years, baseball four years, basketball two years, track three years and intermural basketball two years. Needless to say. Donn is a member of the letterman's club.

He is also a four-year FFA member, and has played in the high schoof band for four years. Donn is a member of the MayHollar racing team. His awards include RBI leader in baseball in 1969-70. most improved in track in 1968-69. and he was a member of the intramural basketball champs in 1969-70 and 1970-71. This year he is taking government. senior English, physiology, band and vocational agriculture four. Vo ag. physiology and English are his favorite subjects. He is undecided as to which college he will go to after graduation. He comments also that he may “just work.” Donn's only brother is 24-years-old. Ronald E. works at Windsor trailer factory in Bristol and is presently building a junior fuel dragster. He resides in the May home at Milford. Ronn has served in the army and has an electrician’s diploma. Baseball, basketball, track, football, tennis, bowling, table tennis, drag racing and golf are Donn’s favorite sports. “Portnoy’s Complaint" is his favorite book. His hobbies are playing guitar and all the sports he has alreadymentioned. Presently he is also helping his brother prepare their junior fuel dragster for the nationals next fall. -WHSDALE L. MABIE Cars and cycles are the hobbies of Dale L. Mabie, son of Eugene and Louise Mabie of r 1 Warsaw. Government. English, auto mechanics, ag mechanics and physical education are the subjects he is taking this year. Auto mechanics and ag mechanics are his favorite subjects. He has been in FFA for one year, in the school play one year and on the football team one year. After graduating Dale plans to attend a two-year mechanics school and then enter the service. He has two sisters and one brother — Mrs. Dwhite (Arlene) Brooke. Mrs. Larry (Shirley) Stevens and Roy Mabie. He also has a half brother. Sgt. Robert Miller who is serving in the air force. Dale works at Shock s Union 76 station in North Webster. Baseball is his favorite sport. -WHS8. PHYLLIS KAY IHNEN Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Ihen of r 1 Warsaw are the parents of Phyllis Kay Ihnen. another member of the class of 1971 at Wawasee high school. Phyllis is taking government, business math, band, bookkeeping and occupational home ec this year and lists home ec and band as her favorite subjects. She has been in pep club one year and band four years. She received a perfect attendance certificate her sophomore year. After graduating Phyllis plans to work. She has one brother. Ellis, nine and in the fourth grade. This WHS senior likes all sports. Cooking and collecting old calenders are her hobbies.
STEVEN JOE WIGGS Steven Joe Wiggs lists stock car racing as his favorite sport. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiggs of r 3 Syracuse, his hobby is fixing cars. Steven is taking government, physical education and auto mechanics this year. Auto mechanics is his favorite subject. He has participated in wrestling for two years and football one year. After graduating he plans to attend Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis. He has an older sister. Mrs. George (Cathy) Northurp, 21; and a vounger brother. Roger, 16. —WHS—DOUGLASSTROMBECK Douglas Anthony Strombeck is taking government, physical education and auto mechanics this year at Wawasee high school. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Strombeck of North Webster. He is a member of the intramural basketball team and the industrial arts club. He is also a member of the Webster lake ski club, placing first in the state for the past five years. After graduating Douglas plans to work. He has a twin brother. Dave and a younger sister. Lisa. Doug works at the North Webster Marina. His favorite sports are water skiing and riding motorcycles. Trapping and hunting are his hobbies —WHS— M ARY. JO NEIBERT Mary Jo Neibert has been a member 6f the Y-Teens for one year and the Block jW for one year She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Robert Neibert of r 1 North Webster. * Mary Jo plans to be a switchboard — receptionist when she graduates. Cars and drags are his hobbies. Marta Juday Is In *soo' Festival Queen's Court Marta Gail Juday, Syracuse, is one of four princesses in the court of "500" Festival Queen Candace Sue Cluster. Miss Juday is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Juday. Miss Cluster is a 19 year old sophomore from Indiana university. She is the daughter of. Mr. and Mrs. Burton D. Cluster of Indianapolis. As the 1971 queen. Candy will represent the “500” Festival at many events throughout the month of May. Others besides Marta who were selected for queen Candy’s court are Fay Allison Collins. Evansville; Carol Susan Dunlapj Indianapolis; and Pamela Suzanne Shepherd. Carmel. These girls and 28 other princesses will attend each “500” Festival function and the 500 Mile Race on May 29.
