A large bow accented the waist-line back of the costume. Her headdress was of small velvet streamer bows and she carried a single stem yellow rose. .. Bridesmaids were Miss Dana Koontz of r 1 North Webster and Miss Deanna Hardin, sister of the bride, also of r 1 North Webster. Their gowns were identical to that of the maid of honor, as were
their flowers. Kent Thomas of Syracuse was best man. Ushers were Doug Wells of Syracuse and Mike Hardin, r 1 North Webster, brother of the bride. The mother of the bride was attired in a mint green ensemble of bonded knit with a lace coat. Her accessories were black. The bridegroom’s mother chose to wear a blue and beige print dressmaker’s suit accented with black accessories. Their corsages were white carnations. A reception was held in the fellowship room of the church following the wedding. Northern Trip Upon their return from a honeymoon trip to Michigan and Canada, the couple will reside temporarily with the bride’s parents until base residence is established by her serviceman husband. The bride graduated from Wawasee high school in 1969 and is employed with Thornburg Drug at North Webster. The bridegroom, a 1968 Syracuse high school, is with the U.S. Navy. Town Board Meeting To Be Held Tonight The North Webster town board meeting was postponed last week and re-scheduled for tonight (Wednesday. March 10) due to some of the members being unable to attend the regular meeting which is the first Wednesday in the month. I -NW— Hoss Hills Bowmen Hold Shoot Sunday The Hoss Hills Bowmen held a double PAA round Sunday at their indoor range northwest of North Webster. Ribbons were awarded in the following divisions: Men’s A class — Jim Swafford, first; Steve Albertson, second; and Bob Wiggs, third. Men’s B class — DeVerl Boney, first; Ron Harris, second; and Marion Boney, third. Men’s C class — Dick Roberts, first; Rex Hathaway, second; and Rick Boney, third. Women s class — Rita Harris, first Junior class — Owen Swafford, ffirst; Allen Albertson, second; i and Dan Smith, third. The club’s next shoot will be a double flint round on Sunday. March 21. He used a fire extinguisher and put out the blaze before any damage was done to the class room. Mr Hayes had started to heat water on a propane tank burner when it ’ exploded” as he was lighting the burner Besides receiving the burns on his hands, the floor where he threw the burner was blackened

shine state as he has for many years Chuck s brother, Joe. is also in Florida and is living with their father. Joe is a commercial artist, formerly with L & M Berry and Company of Warsaw, who is now doing free-lance work. He is presently doing oil paintings and charcoal portraits at shopping centers. There is a possibility he may go with Florida’s new Disnevland when it is completed. - NW—BOWSER. Jason T. A son. Jason T.. was bom to Mr. and Mrs. Terry’ Bowser of r 1 North Webster on February 28 in the Whitley County hospital at Columbia City. Jason T. tipped the scales at seven pounds. 10 ounces and measured 20 inches long. He is the couple’s first child. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Brewden of 310 E. South. Angola. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Ananias of r 3 Kendallville. BOYER. Michelle Rene Mr. and Mrs. Jay Boyer of r 1 North Webster adopted a baby girl on February 22. She weighed seven pounds, seven ounces when she was born on February 4 and she measured 20 1 2 inches long. Ice Cream Ecology Accepting aluminum cans as payment for ice cream is one company’s way of keeping America beautiful and keeping its customers happy. Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours. San Diego. Calif., is taking part in Aluminum Company of America’s ‘‘Yes We Can’’ reclamation and recycling program by exchanging 10 cents worth of ice cream for every pound of aluminum cans turned in at its parlours. A Farrell’s spokesman said the 10 cents a pound Alcoa pays his company for redeemed cans will be used to buy tree seedlings for creation of a “Farrell’s Forest." Trees raised in the “Farrell s Forest.” he said, “will be given free to individuals or groups involved in beautifying campsites and parks in San Diego County.” In 23 weeks of Alcoa's “Yes We Can” effort, more than 20 million aluminum cans have been turned in, for which collectors have been paid SIOO,OOO. The “Yes We Can” program is also operating in Dallas and Fort Worth. Texas. Mercury-containing industrial wastes contaminating a Japanese bay caused birth defects in 19 babies over seven years, according to the March of Dimes.
County Demo Women Meet March 16 The Kosciusko county Democrat Women s organization will meet Tuesday, March 16. at 7:30 p.m. at the city hall in Pierceton. Hostesses will be Mrs. Dale Bennett. Mrs. Paul Beebe, both of Pierceton, and Mrs. Esther Charlton of Milford. Whitley county Democrat women will be guests. Final plans will be made for the style show, “A Spring and Summer Fling,” to be held at St. Andrew s Methodist church at Syracuse. April 21. Fire Department Called For Marsh Fire Wednesday Syracuse firemen responded to a fire call at 1:53 Wednesday afternoon for a marsh fire on SR 13-A and county road 1250 north due to a marsh fire near Payton Place. Firemen stood-by until the Cromwell fire department arrived due to the call being in Cromwell territory. Time To File Tax Exemptions Filing of various types of exemptions at the county auditor's office began March 1. These include veterans, mortgage and old age exemptions. The veterans, plus-65 and mortgage exemptions may be filed until early May. Anyone seeking plus-65 exemptions, either single or as married couples, may ask for the exemption if their income from all sources, including social security, is under $5,000. SCHOOL OF NURSING Cathy Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore of 222 North Shore Drive in Syracuse, has entered the Indiana University school of nursing at Indianapolis. Cathy is a 1968 graduate of Syracuse High School and attended Western Michigan and Indiana University before entering nursing school. The school of nursing curriculum leads to an R.N. and a Bachelor of Science degree. The George E. Freyn, Jr., family of Indianapolis and Lake Wawasee were Sunday guests of the Stanley P. Crippes. Leesburg's Plain Farmerettes Hold Meeting On March 2 By SALLY POLK and KATHY SMOKER The meeting of the Plain Farmerettes was held March 2. The meeting was called to order by the vice president, Millie Goff. Pledge to the flag was by Angie Lynch and the 4-H pledge ,by Debbie Bertsch. The devotions byTammy Klopenstein. There were 24 members present and roll call was answered by each girl giving how old she would be this year. Plans to make a new exhibit building was presented. They want each 4-H member to help raise money by selling popcorn. Also a rollerskating party was discussed. Health and safety was given by Cheryl Meek on exercising. The following demonstrations were given: Sally Polk on Sauerkraut surprise cake. Holly Strong on peanut brittle, and Doreen Ashton on pear bunnies and simple salads. The songs were lead by Karen Pound and Debbie Bertsch. Refreshments were served byKaren and Linda Pound and Tammy Klopenstein. — .. Youth To Join 4-H Photo Fun Club The new 4-H Photo Fun club begins on March 20 for all 9 to 12 year olds in Elkhart county according to Karen Honderich. area extension agent, youth. Materials are now being distributed. The 4-H Photo Fun club is a television 4-H club which features a series of six 30 minute TV programs designed to teach how to use a camera to take good pictures. Telling stories with photos by recording ideas, events and situations of daily activities will be another emphasis of photo fun. The series will be seen on channel 22 starting March 20 at 5:30 pin. Parents are encouraged to have their children enroll in this educational TV series. The child does not need to be a previous member of 4-H or belong to any 4H club in the Area. Interested 9 to 12 year olds can get information from their schools or 4-H clubs or by contacting the area extension agent youth at the County Extension. Office.
