Shearer Facts ... by Carl Shearer It’s a fact.. . that there is a regulation in the British Navy which says, “No officer shall speak discouragingly to another officer in the discharge of his duties.’’ God stated the same truth in a positive way in Hebrews 10:24. “let us encourage one a not he- ” One of the highest of Christian duties is the duty of encouragement. One of Job’s friends paid him a great tribute in Job 4:4 when he said, "your words have kept men on their feet.” (Moffatt Translation) It is easy to laugh at men’s ideals; it is easy to pour cold water on their enthusiasm; it is easy to discourage others, but we have a Christian duty to encourage one another. Many times a word of • praise, or thanks, or appreciation. or cheer has, kept a man on his feet. Blessed is the one who speaks such a word. We invite you to the Milford Christian Church this Sunday.
