GUIDING the Mentone Bulldogs through the 1970-71 season have been Randal Hart Sheets, head coach, and Robert Igney, assistant, both of whom are in their first year at Mentone. Sheets was assistant coach four years at DeMott before coming to Mentone. Igney. a former professional basketball player and a member of a Purdue team that won a Big Ten Championship, was formerly head coach at Kendallville and Lebanon. While the Bulldogs have not had a winning season, the final scores have not always reflected the amount of work that the team and coaches have expended nor have they reflected the renewed enthusiasm that has been evidenced since the coming of the new coaches.
