Double Rites For Mr. And Mrs. Robert Davis Double funeral services were held at 1:30 p m. Saturday at a fbneral home in Warsaw for Robert H. Davis and Lillian O. Davis of Leesburg Mrs. Davis. 67. died*Thursday at 11:15 p.m. of complications at Miller's Merry Manor Mr. Davis died Monday at the Veterans Administration hospital in . Marion where he had been a patient since November. Mrs. Davis was born to John and Mary J (Sheppard) Rhoades on April 22,1903 at Wessington, S. D She moved to Kosciusko county from Fairmount in 1942. On October 30. 1924 she married Robert H Davis. Mrs. Davis retired December 8. 1970 from the Child Welfare and Public Assistance of the Kosciusko County Department of Public Welfare where she was a clerk-stenographer for 17 years. She was a member of the United Methodist church of Ijeesburg. a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star of Leesburg, past president of the Auxiliary of the Leesburg American Legion/ a present member of the Auxiliary of the John C Peterson Post 49. a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eight et 40. and a member of the auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I Robert Davis was a past commander of the Leesburg American Legion, a member of the Warsaw American Legion, the Eight et 40. the Leesburg United Methodist church and was a veteran of World War I where he served with the navy He was a retired farmer The couple is survived by two daughters. Mrs James (Martha) Ross and Mrs Richard (Mary* Higgins, both of Warsaw', and three grandchildren Mrs Davis is also survived by a sister, Mrs Alta Royal of Fairmount A memorial service for Mrs Davis was held Friday evening by the Leesburg Order ot Easter Star Rev David Gosser and Rev. Don Abbey officiated the funeral services and burial was in the Oakwood cemetery. Herbert Francis Barnes Herbert Francis Barnes. 63, former Ligonier and Topeka area resident, died Saturday, Jan. 23, at 9 45 a m in the Missouri State Hospital. Mt Vernon. Mo. He had been ill for the past ten years with tuberculosis Mr Barnes worked as an electric welder He had lived for the past 25 Kansas City. Mo . after leaving this area Survivors include a stepdaughter. Mrs Dean McCall, of San Francisco and a sister. Mrs Vada Beatty, Albuquerque. N. Mex Services were held in the Ulrey funeral home at Ligonier, yesterday (Tuesday) with Rev. Walter R. House, of the United Methodist <church. officiating. Buna! was m Eden cemetery, west of Topeka Mrs. Mary Hite Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at a Goshen funeral home for Mrs Mary A, Hite. 85, of Goshen who died at 1:45 pm Sunday at the Goshen hospital She had been m failing health for the past year. was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Goshen: Mrs. Hite was born at Syracuse January 19.1886. She had lived in Goshen the past 20 years moving there from Pierceton. She was a member of the Assembly of God church. Her first marriage was to Albert Tom who died August 23, 1917. She was married to Omer Hite December 27. 1919., He also preceded her in death August 28. 1962. Survivors include two daughters. Mrs. Donald Wysong of Goshen. Mrs. Lester Puls of Cozad, Neb.; a step-daughter. Mrs Eldon Ever of Goshen 11 grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat grandchild Mary M. Green - . Funeral services were held Saturday. Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. for Mary M. Green. 84. north Huntington street. Syracuse. Rev. Harold S. Gardner Officiated and burial was in the Solomon Creek cemetery Mrs. Green died at 9:07 p.m. last Wednesday in a> Warsaw nursing home She had been a patient there since July of 1968. The deceased was bom in the Solomon Creek community on September 2/1886 She was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Baugher) Alwme and had lived in the community most of her life. She was married to Orlo Green who preceded her in death 'in 1935 She had worked at the Wilt factory in Syracuse years ago and was a member of the Solomon Creek chqrch Surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Dee (Dorothy) Stiver of Syracuse; a son. Joseph Green, of Goshen. and five 0 grandchildren. She was the last of 11 children Mrs. Jean Oppenheim Mrs Jean iValerie) Oppenheim. 72. of Leesburg died Saturday at 9 a m. at a hospital in South Bend where she had been a patient one day She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Oppenheim was associated with the family owned Oppenheim Department store at North Manchester Mrs Oppenheim was bom in Whitley county. June 8, 1898, to Allen and Felixita (Busch) Dohner She married Jean Oppenheim on June 19. 1922 in In'dianapohs He passed away on March 31. 1949 In 1952. she moved to Leesburg from North Manchester She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church, the Tri Kappa Sorority and the Tippecanoe Country club Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p m at a funeral home in Warsaw with burial in . The new infant tipped the scales at seven pounds, 10 ounces and measured 19 inches in length. He has been named Eric Shane. The mother is the former Patti Wyland. She resided in Milford with her family during her school days. Bridal Shower Sunday Honors Miss Stoffel A bridal shower honoring Miss Cindy Stoffel of Syracuse was held Sunday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Martha Leemon, Goshen. Miss Stoffel will be married to John Leemon on February fifth. The shower, given by Mrs. Philip Hahn and Miss Kathleen Leemon was attended by twentythree guests from Syracuse, Milford, New Paris, Goshen. Elkhart, and Howe. Indiana. Shower games were played and refreshments enjoyed by the guests. The doorprize was won by Mrs. Harold Stoffel, mother of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Haney of Milford spent Sunday at the Church in Dunlap where a cooperative dinner was enjoyed. Mr. Haney showed slides taken this past summer when he and Mrs. Haney went on a Luther Sites Tour of Europe.

Dear Editor: It was most gratifying to read your editorial, “A Great Bunch of Kids." Too often, as a reading public we are subjected to new coverage which portrays sensationalism w radical opinion. Revivals Start At Syracuse Church of God The two week long revival services at Syracuse Church of God will be starting Sunday w-ith the Jubileers on the opening night. Services will be held each evening w-ith special music being planned. Pastor Walter C. Burcham will be the evangelist; Carroll Koble, song leader; and Mrs. Burcham will have the children’s time. Monday, Feb. 1, will be get acquainted night; Tuesday.

These most important young people make their presence known in a positive way by being useful citizens at Wawasee high school and by providing leadership in our three communities.
