Wrestlers Win Goshen Invitational Saturday

By JOHN BAHN The Wawasee Warriors wrestling team entered the Goshen invitational last Saturday and brought home four medals and the championship trophy. ' The Warriors took the title with a 79-78 win over Fort Wayne North. Goshen was third with 61 points, with Concord scoring 48 points, Lakeland 47. North Wood 42, Fairfield 36 and Jimtown 19. MJH Wins Lakeland Tourney Saturday

The Milford Trojans won the Lakeland junior high school tournament Saturday afternoon in the Syracuse gym by defeating the host Yellow Jackets 48-44 in the final game. Milford was led by Tim Yoder with 15 points and Paul Miller who scored 12 points. High point man for the game was Smith of Syracuse with 18 points. Miller and Bender led Milford’s rebounding attack as Curt Bender brought down eight rebounds and Miller followed with seven. The game was close throughout with the Trojans holding a 10-9 edge at the end of the first quarter. The game was tied at 19

all at half time, however, the Trojans again held a one point 3635 lead at the end of three periods. The final score showed coach Bob Long's team ahead 4844. First Game Milford defeated Central Noble 58-35 in the first game of play to win its way into the final game. Tim Yoder led the way for the Trojans with 19 points. Dave Wollman followed with nine points.Yoder and Curt Bender each pulled down seven rebounds. Milford held a commanding lead throughout the game with the score being 13-8 at the end of the first stop, 30-16 at half time.

Consolation f North Webster won the consolation game 47-39 Bullard and Paulus doing an excellent job of rebounding with 19 and 12 respectively. North Webster’s offensive playing was as u’ell as their before Christmas play according to the team's coach. Burchard proved to be high point man for the game and the tourney as,he scored a total of 26 points for the winning Trojan team. Taulbee was high for Central Noble with 17 and Sickafoose added an additional 10 for the losing team.
