David Morehouse showed pictures of Haiti which were taken by his sister, Loetta. and himself in August while with a youth crusade group. . Two pinata bags were enjoyed by the children. —NS—COMMUNITY NEWS Mrs. Edna Tom was a Monday dinner guest of Mrs. Ruth DeFries. Mr. and Mrs. David Beer left immediately after morning senices to return to Waukesha, Wis., where they are attending New Tribes training school. Miss Rhonda Hurd was a guest of the Community Gospel Youth Group over the New Years holiday and spent a couple day's at a northern ski resort. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Stetler entertained Monday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mathews. Miss Loetta Morehouse spent the week end with her sister and
family, Nir. and Mrs. Ron Tyler and sons of Nappanee. Mrs. Edna Tom and Doris spent the week end in North Manchester visiting Mrs. Doris Niccum and Mrs. Curtis Cripe. Ed Smith entertained Saturday noon for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mathews and Mrs. lona Ryman. Mrs. lona Ryman has been convalescing from a fall several weeks ago lat the home of her niece and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mathews. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morehouse and daughters entertained New Year's day for Mr. and Mrs. Guy Morehouse, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse and Mrs. Ruth DeFries. Miss Donna Moser of Goshen spent the holidays with relatives in New YorkK .Mr and MrsS Wayne Teeple, Pam and Jack and Mr and Mrs. John Plank returned home after spending the holidays in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baker and family spent the holidays visiting friends in New York and with Dr. and Mrs. Daryl Johnson v and family in Maine. Shoplifting Attempt Leads To Marijuana Charge A shoplifting attempt in a Goshen store last week by a r 1 Cromwell youth led to the arrest of a Syracuse man on a possession of marijuana charge. Authorities said that Sherman R. Schwartz, 17, of r 1 Cromwell, attempted the theft of a stereo tape cartridge concealed under his coat. The youth attempted to run away after the theft was discovered by an employee but was caught by police. He was accompanied by Michael A. Clark. 19, of r 2 Syracuse. While being taken to the police station for questioning. Clark tried to rid himself of some marijuana cigarettes by putting them in the rear of the squad car. Sectional Tourney Is Moved To Triton
Announcements made this week by the Indiana High School Athletic Association in regards to sectional tournaments moved the Warsaw sectional to Trition high school in Bourbon this year. It is the first time in seven years that Warsaw will not be the host school. The same six teams — Warsaw, Wawasee and Mentone from Kosciusko county; Akron and Rochester from Fulton county; and Trition in Marshall county — will be participating for the coveted crown.

In other action the IHSAA moved the Bluffton sectional to Bellmont, the Crown Point sectional to Calumet, the Franklin sectional to Wliiteland, the Martinsville sectional to Bloomington and the Huntington sectional to Eastbrook at Marion. This gives Marion as well as Fort Wayne two sectionals. No reason was given for the site shifts. Warsaw has held the sectional ever since it’s new gym was built in 1963. Sherri Edgar 174-128 Basketball Tourney At Syracuse School At a drawing made at the home of Rex Yentes, athletic director of Wawasee Prep, the following pairings were made . for. a basketball tourney to be held ata the Syracuse Junior high school gymnasium on Saturday. Jan. 9. Records indicated behind each team indicates their record as of December 24, 1970. The first game will match Kewanna (7-3) against Huntington Catholic (4-6). The second game will be between White’s Institute (6-3) and W’awasee Prep (4-4). . ■(. The doors will open for the afternoon session at 11:30 with the first game at 12:30. The second game will begin at 2 o’clock. The doors will open for the evening playoffs at 6 p.m. and the consolation game will start at 7 o’clock. The championship game will start 20 minutes after the completion of the consolation game. Referees for the afternoon games will be Max Rink and Dale Blosser of Elkhart. Robert Francis and William Sorukas of South Bend will officiate at the evening games. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.

One Injured In One-Car Crash Monday Evening One man was admitted to Elkhart hospital Monday night and two others were examined in Goshen hospital emergency room and released following a one-car crash at 7:15 Monday evening at the intersection of the Pickwick Road and east Shore Drive of Syracuse Lake on the south side of the B & O railroad tracks. James L. Holdren, 39, Marion was admitted for a possible back injury. Robert H. Hall, also 39, of Marion was driver of the 1967 'Buick which was damaged $2,300. Deputy sheriff Ron Robinson investigated and the Hall vehicle apparently skidded on icy pavement on the curve, left the highway without negotiating a, curve and went dow-n an embankment hitting several large signs. Syracuse police officer Dale Sparkling and the Syracuse first aid unit also assisted. LAKELAND LOCALS Spending the New Year week end with Mr.and Mrs. Charles W. The semistate lineup at Evansville, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Lafayette too remains unchanged. This year there will be a total of 436 teams, 10 fewer than in 1970, entered in the tourney with hopes to win the championship crown i/T Indianapolis.
LIGONIER NEWS By Rose Cunningham Plan To Open West Noble The West Noble school board held its first meeting of the’year Monday night at the office of superintendent Glen K. Longenbaugh. Members discussed the progress of the new West Noble high school and are still hoping for an opening of the academic portion around March 1 with the gymnasium and several other portions needing more construction time. A committee was appointed to work with members from the Noble County United Fund concerning allotments for the school health fund. Mrs. Jean Loveless school nurse, will act as chairman with the following building principals. Lloyd Ness, Louise Furkis, James Schrdck, Robert Wechter, Roger Schermerhorn, Jerry Seymoure, and Mary Strangland. Superintendent Longenbaugh will also be a member of the committee. The resignation of David Kinnison, as janitor pf the Ligonier elementary building, was accepted. It was also reported that the state board of accounts were completing their periodic audit of the books.
