Penn took out Goshen to win the championship.

Penn Wins Goshen Tourney With WHS Consolation Winner

By JOHN BAHN The Penn Kingsmen took the Goshen tourney championship last Saturday after a hard fought battle They defeated Wawasee in the afternoon and Goshen in the championship game to gain the crown In the afternoon game Penn beat Wawasee 75-62 with Goshen beating Dekalb 71-52. Penn then smashed the Redskin with a score of 74-65 to win the championship. Wawasee Falls Wawasee fell quickly by the wayside during the afternoon game as the Kingsmen s e( fective defensive and offensive playing took command. The Warriors, however, bravely held up their score by very effective teamwork. j Perm's Larry Kowalinski, a six foot, four inch senior, led in scoring for the afternoon with a total of 26 points. Teammate Jay Williams followed with 21. Wawasee's John Hamilton totaling 18 points and teammate Dave Elliott adding an additional 17 points. Wins Consolation The Warriors played Dekalb in the consolation game Saturday evening and walked off with a 9771 victory. Wawasee's John Hamilton was the scoring ace of the game with a total of 22 points. Teammate Russ Mikel was also in double figures with 17 points and Jeff Hughes scored 12. Dekalb's Steve Seiss scored 15 points. x Wawasee slowed up slightly in the third quarter scoring only 22 points but in the fourth quarter the Warriors hit a high of 28 points. Dekalb managed to tie the Warriors at 25 all in the second quarter but Wawasee quickly took the lead back and kept it easily through the rest of the game.
