Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stouder, Jr., Nappanee, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sally, to Robert Wise, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wise . . . Mrs. George Coy of Marion announces the engagement of her daughter, Mary Ellen Sims, to Henry Schmucker, son of Mrs. Jacob Schmucker ... Mr. and Mrs. James Losee of Syracuse announce the engagement of their daughter. Rosemary-, to Jerry Method, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Method of Milford. Joseph Clark and son Bob of Broadmoor Farm, southwest of Milford, are the proud owners of triplet Mr. Clark says this is the first set of triplets in his large herd of Guernseys. Two of the calves are females and are thought to be identical twins. Veterinarians say the chances of having triplets are one in 900,000 births. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ritter of Syracuse observed their 38th wedding anniversary Dcecember 24. They are former Milford residents. Hoy Jones has announced he will open the Milford Iroq and Welding Shop Monday, Jan. 14, for general repair work. a ? John Davidsen has been elected president of the Actual Past Masters lodge by 70 representatives of area lodges, at a meeting at the Syracuse Masonic temple. Mr. Davidsen succeeds Everett O. Dunn of Syracuse. Mischa Mischakoff, One of the world’s great violinists, will present a concert for members of the Goshetl Concert Association in the high school auditorium Tuesday evening. The Turkey Creek Homebuilders club met with Mrs. Merrill Vanderveer recently. Roll call was' answered by naming “My Favorite Pastime.” New members welcomed into the club are Mrs. Roy Slagle. Jr., Mrs. Junior Yoder, and Mrs e Robert Roeder. 30 YEARS AGO. JAN. 9,1941 Mrs. Floyd Gerber, 27, the former Ida Chupp of Milford, died Friday. Jan. 3, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Moses Hostetler of Nappanee. Among her survivors are the husband, son Robert and daughter Marlene, at the Gerber farm home, seven miles northeast of Syracuse; her mother. Mrs. Ira Chupp, four brothers and a sister of Milford; and another sister, Mrs. Samuel Miller of Topeka. Funeral services were Monday afternoon. Mrs. James Arnold, 82, former resident of Milford, died Monday at Saint Petersburg, Fla., of a heart attack. She had been staying at the home of her son, Ralph Gattshall at Atlanta, Ga. The former Emma \fathews, she was married to J. B. Gatshall, who died in 1919. Two sons, David, who died when two years old, and Ralph, were born to this union. On June 12, 1926, she married Mr. Arnold of Milford at Youngstown. Ohio. He died in 1933. Mrs. Arnold’s final resting [dace will be at Milford.

JAN. 9,1947 Stoffel DeFrees, 78, died . December 27 after an illness of five days of uremic poisoning. He is survived by four daughters, / Mrs. Roy Fox and Mrs. Clayton S. Stump of Milford, Mrs. Ray ' Stouder of 0 Goshen, and Mrs. Edith Mason of Nappanee; and two sons, Carl and Harvey DeFreese. Services were held at the Union Center church., The home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bitner was the scene of a pretty wedding Sunday evening when their daughter, Fredonna, and Raymond Custer of New Paris were united in marriage by Rev. Karl 'Tauber. Twenty-eight guests were present. ward Rensberger talked recently by telephone to his son Douglas, who is stationed in Japan, and Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen talked to their son Ray, who is in Switzerland. A Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hover, residents of Washington, p. C., left Monday for Los Angeles, Calif., where they expect to make their home. Their daughter Mary will remain in Washington and their son Harry is in the navy, stationed at Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. Hover is the former Beatrice Myers, sister of C. S. Myers and Noble Myers. Harry Dale Doty has entered Milford high school for the second semester and is eligible to resume his basketball playing. He recently returned home after serving a year and a half in the European occupational forces. Captain John W. Ripley, formerly of Milford, arrived at San Francisco December 2, from the Philippine Islands where he was regimental surgeon of the 45th Infantry Regiment, 12th Infantry Division, Philippine Scouts, pe is the nephew of Miss Lillian . Kantner, Milford high school teacher. Rev. W. I. Duker began his 15th year of work as pastor of the First Brethren church, Sunday. He addressed his congregation on the subject, “Desiring a Sign from Heaven,” on the 16th chapter of Saint Matthew. ‘Sacrament* Is Christian Science Lesson For Sunday A communion service will be held at Christian Science churches this Sunday.
