By JOHN BAHN The Wawasee Warriors basketball team nailed the Manchester Squires against the wall last Friday evening for an early Christmas present as the Warriors won 82-70 This victory gives the Warriors a 4-3 record for the season The Squires got off to a fair start with a 4-0 lead over the Warriors, however. Wawasee came back, taking the lead and righting hard to keep it. The quarter ended with Wawasee holding a 19-16 lead The Warriors dropped off in scoring in the second quarter The Squires lacked in offense but held their defense very well. Wrestlers Take West Noble 48-6
By JOHN BAHN The Wawasee Wrestlers pounded the West Noble Chargers last Thursday to take a 48-6 victory and bring their record to 5-1 for the season. In the 98 pound weight class Wawasee’s Dan Doll pinned West Noble's Riedenback with 57 seconds left in the third period. In the 105 pound weight class Wawasee s Mark Treesh pinned West Noble's Barhydt seven seconds into the third period. In the 112 pound weight class Chip Dye was decisioned by West Noble's Riedenback 9-2. In the 119 pound weight class Jay de Somer pinned Mike Jones with :13 left in the first period. In the 126 pound weight class .Steve Coburn decisioned D. Riedenback 54). In the 132 pound class John Lietx of Wawasee was decisioned by Mike Coy. In the 138 pound class Jim Marlette pinned Rick Oddis of West Noble with 37 seconds left in the third period. In the 145 pound weight class
were not up to par during the quarter Half time score: Wawasee 35, Manchester 33 In the third quarter Wawasee jumped ahead in scoring with excellent defense and offence while Manchester dropped in both Wawasee charged ahead crushing much of Manchester’s hopes of taking over the lead. SANTA ARRIVES — Approximately 600 children and a number of parents attended the free kiddie show at the Pickwick Theatre Saturday, sponsored by the Syracuse police and fire departments, merchants and industry of the area. The show consisted of a feature length Flintstone cartoon and a number of shorts making a two-hour show. Following this event, Santa was on hand and assisted by volunteer fireman to hand out treats to those in attendance. Police chief Orville Vanderßeyden and deputy Dale Sparklin assisted with traffic control and children.
