The 90-member chorus under the direction of David Blackwell will perform on “Homemakers* Time." which can be seen on Channel 22. from 9 to 10 a m. The choir will sing ’ Masters In This Hall." an old English Carol; “Good Christian Men Rejoice." a 14th century German carol; "Sing Gloria." a modern Christmas Anthem by Katherine K. Davis, and “Silent Night,” an Austrian carol written by Franz Gruber During. "Silent Night.” Joe Hickman will read a section of the Christmas story from Luke, chapter 2. Students will leave by bus from Syracuse Junior high at 6 45 a.m. and arrive in South Bend about 8:30 for the 9 o'clock program. Students will return to Syracuse about noon.

The play, written by Archibald McLeish. is a modern version of the Biblical story of Job The director of the play is Mrs Sharyn O’Hare who will be assisted by the student director, Mike Misevicz, a senior from South Bend The leads are taken by Dary l Rybicki, a senior from South Bend, who will play “Zuss"; “Nickels” will be played by Jim Schmitmeyer, a senior from Versailles. Ohio, while the title roll of "J. B." will be taken by Larry Rice, also a senior from South Bend "Sarah" will be played by Cindy Hartman from West Noble high school m Ligonier, The public is invited to attend as guests of the school WUTHRICHS RETURN FROM HAWAII Mr and Mrs Walter Wuthrich and Mrs. Stan Wuthrich of Milford have returned from Hawaii where they visited their son and husband. Stan Wuthrich, ' who was on R and R from Viet Nam. The Wuthrichs returned to the states on Thanksgiving evening and the younger Mrs. Wuthrich returned to Milford the following day while the senior Wuthrichs w ent on to Phoenix, Ariz., to visit another daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs Stan Goudman for eight days. While in Hawaii the Walter Wuthrichs enjoyed a two day stay on the island of Kauai.

Junior Merry Maidens Hold Meeting Dec. 1 Tue Junior Merry Maidens 4-H club was called to order December 1 at the Milford fire station by president Kathy Beer. The American pledge was lead by Joanna Spearman and the 4-H pledge was led by Diane Lozano The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, followed with the roll call. Health and safety was lead by Shelly Dahlstrom. Devotions were given by Cindy Kammerer. The new and old business was discussed. The Christmas party will be December 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station with carding and a gift exchange as the main activities. Demonstrations were given by Janette and Beverly Zimmerman and Lonna, Nancy and Beth Wolferman. The meeting was then adjourned and refreshments served

| Meet The I Wawasee | Seniors

ROSANNE REED Rosanne Jean Reed plans to attend beauty school at Fort Wayne after graduating from Wawasee high school and also has marriage plans in her future. Rosie is the daughter of Mrs. George Bish of r 1 Cromwell and Edsel Reed of r 1 Decatur. An active member of the class, she has been a flag girl with the marching band for three years, in FHA and choir for three years and the Y-teens for one year. Rosie is also a Sunday school teacher at Trinity Lutheran church. This year she is taking physdogy, occupational sewing, government and choir. Her favorites include sewing, choir and physology. She has a brother Stephen who is 21 and in Indianapolis, and younger brothers, Bill in the third grade and Lyle in the first grade. Rosie works at the LaPetite shop in Syracuse. Horseback riding, swimming, dancing and walking are her favorite sports. “Airport” was her favorite book. Crocheting, reading and sewing are her hobbies. —WHS—MICHAEL BROWN Michael G. Brown is another member of the senior class. He is taking drafting, art 111 and government. He was a member of the football team for two years. Water skiing is his favorite sport. —WHS—REBECCA LUYBEN Rebecca Joyce Luyben is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Luyben of r 4 Syracuse. She is taking home economics IV, psychology, business math, senior English and government. English and government are her favorite subjects. She was a member of the French club her fresiunan year, home ec club her sophomore year, and drama club her junior year. { She works at Klink's grocery in Syracuse. After graduating she plans to work and get married. Swinning and boating are her favorite sports. “Gone With the Wind” and

“The Scarlet Letter” are her favorite books. Her hobbies are reading, writing letters and collecting stuffed animals. —WHS—DEBRA BEMISH Debra Lynne Bemish is the daughter of Howard and Alice Bemish of r 1 North Webster. She plans to attend Purdue university in the fall. Debra is taking advanced biology, physiology, government and English and is a member of the yearbook staff. Biology and government are her favorite subjects. She has been a member of the cheerblock for one year, foreign language club for two years, drama-debate club for three years, DTA for two years, science club for two years, senior executive council and year book staff for two years. She has a brother. Doug, age 13 and in the eighth grade; and two sisters. Dawn, age 11 and in the sixth grade and Denise, age nine and in the fourth grade. Tennis is her favorite sport. “The Tales of Hoffman” and “Five Smooth Stones” are her favorite books. Reading and playing the guitar are her favorite hobbies. Fairfield School Presents Concert The music department of Fairfield school will present two concerts within the next week, the first will be a vocal program on Thursday, Dec. 10, with a band concert on Sunday afternoon. Dec. 13, at 2:30. The public has been invited to attend. LAKELAND LOCAL Mrs. Evar Troup of Milford entertained Wednesday evening for her Bridge club Christmas party. Gifts were exchanged later in the evening. Those present were: Mrs. Richard Felkner, Mrs. T. A. Eudolph Holycross Named Indiana Teacher Os The Year 1970

By MARIAN RANTZ Eudolph Holycross of Larwill, who has taught in the Whitley County schools for 42 years, was presented the award as Indiana Teacher of the Year 1970 at Indianapolis Tuesday, Dec. 1. The award was presented to him by Richard Wells, state superintendent of schools, in his office. Ralph Bailey and Donald Weeks, superintendent and principal of the Columbia City Joint high school, nominated Mr. Holycross for this honor. Letters supporting the nomination were written by 29 individuals including 12 former and present students, ministers, teachers, school administrators, judge, governor and congressman. More than 100 teachers were nominated for this award. Superintendent Bailey and Mrs. Jane Ann Durbin, the latter is the daughter of Mr. Holycross, accompanied him to Indianapolis to witness the presentation of the award. Teaches Government Mrs. Holycross has been teaching United States government and serving as head of the social studies department at the Columbia City Joint high school for 13 years. He had previously taught social studies and biology at the Larwill high school for three years, served as coach of the Larwill baseball, basketball and track teams for 16 years, and was principal of the school for five years. He was also the principal and government teacher for five years at Jefferson Center before the consolidation with the Columbia City school system Native of Richland Township Mr. Holycross was born in Richland township December 2, 1906, (the award was presented to him the day before his 64th birthday). He was the oldest of 11 children and taught all but two of them and also taught his daughter, Jane Ann, while teathing in the Larwill school. He is a member of the Larwill United Methodist church where he has served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, delegate to conference and is currently a lay leader. He is a charter member of the Larwill Lions club and has served as vice president of the Whitley County Tuberculosis society for 15 years. Other memberships include one in the Whitley County Classroom Teachers, the Indiana State Teachers association, the National Education association.

and the Phi Delta Kappa educational fraternity. He holds principal's and superintendent's licenses for elementary and secondary schools and licenses in social studies, biology, health and safety education and boys physical education. Graduate of DePauw Mr. Holycross was graduated from Larwill high school with the class of 1924 as valedictorian of his class. In 1929 he graduated from DePauw university where he majored in social studies. He played on the DePauw baseball team and was the first Larwill graduate to win a major athletic award in college. He received his master of arts from Indiana university in 1939. He has also attended Manchester college. Ball State university and Purdue university for summer lessons. Philosophy Os Teaching In a personal interview with Mr. Holycross Sunday afternoon in his home at Larwill he stated many of the reporters and

members of the news media questioned him regarding student behavior and the new methods of teaching. He spoke out strongly in defense of our youth of today. He stated they were genuinely in(Continued On Page 5, Sec. 1)
