Lakeland Announces Free Lunch Policy Lakeland Community School Corporation announces free and reduced price school lunch policy. The Lakeland Community School Corporation has long recognized the need for helping meet the nutritional needs of its students. The charge to students who can pay is 35 cents in the elementary schools and 40 cents in the junior high and high schools. However, since some families find it difficult to pay this full price, the school will provide these lunches free of charge or at a reduced price to those children determined by school officials to be unable to pay the full price for their lunches. * Families who feel that their children may be eligible for free or reduced price lunches may apply. Notification of the procedure to apply was sent home in a letter to parents earlier this week. Additional copies may be obtained at the school. The completed application, signed by an adult member of the family, should be reviewed with the school principal. Such applications will be reviewed promptly and the family will be notified, in writing, as to the decision made. All information provided will be held in strictest confidence. Decisions for approval will be based on the following Income Scale. Family Size .Annual Income One $1,920 Two 1 2.520 Three 3.120 Four 3.720 Five 4.270
Six 4.820 Seven 5,320 Eight 5,820 Each additional family member add 450 Any unusual circumstances or hardships, which affect the family’s ability to pay for school lunches will also be considered. The school corporation’s formal free and reduced price policy is on file in the administrative office of the Lakeland Community School Corporation and may be reviewed by any interested person. Board members stated Tuesday night that no school corporation has to adopt a free lunch policy, however, if one is not adopted the corporation would loose its reimbursement in the milk program and the use of all government commodities. Mr. and Mrs. Theo Beer of r 1 Milford had as their over night guests Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Garence Koehl of Forrest. 111.
