Connolly Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Mabel Louise Connolly, 87. of 1084 east Main street, Syracuse A lifetime resident of the Syracuse community, she was pronounced dead On arrival at 4:40 a m Thursday at Goshen hospital She had been in failing health for several months following a heart attack , Mrs. Connolly was bom in Syracuse on March 22. 1883 to Warren and Minerva (Snavely) Eagles She was united in marriage to William G Connolly who preceded her in death in 1946. She owned and operated the LaPetite Shoppe on Main street m Syracuse for over 30 years and continued to do so up until the time of her death She was a member of the Saint Andrew’s United Methodist church, the WSCS of the church. Indies of the Round Table and Business and Professional Women's clubs at Syracuse Survivors include two sons. Byron and James, both of Syracuse; a daughter. August Lundquist officiated and burial was in Syracuse cemetery. Mrs. Margie C. Pauls Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Margie C. Pauls, 66, of r 1 Syracuse. She passed away at 1 pm. Saturday in Elkhart hospital where she had been a patient for two-days. Mrs. Pauls was born on December 20. 1903 at Portmouth. Ohio, to Henry and Emma (Wiser) Frick She married Ted C. Pauls in 1926 and they resided in the Syracuse community since 1949 coming here from Chicago She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist church and of the Naomi Circle Survivors include the mother, a resident of the Andreson nursing home at Goshen; the husband; daughter. Mrs Mary Van Dyke of Syracuse, a son, Clarence 0. Chiddister of Three Rivers. Mich ; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs Peter Ross. Christner Funeral sen ices were held last Wednesday morning for Oscar I Christner. 69. of r 1 LaGrange, father of Rollin Christner of r 2 Syracuse Death occurred at 8 :30 am . .Sunday. Nov 15. at his home following an illness of two and one-half years The deceased was bom March 3, 1901 near Topeka He was united in marriage to Mary Howard March 28. 1924

Survivors in addition to the widow, Mary, are two other sons, Lawrence Christner of Fort Wayne and Duane Christner of Goshen; two daughters, Mrs. C. Gene (Velma) Sherck of LaGrange and Mrs. Keith (Ruby) Notestine of Elkhart; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one brother and three sisters. Mr. Christner was a member of the LaGrange Church of God where he served as a Sunday School superintendent for 12 years. He was a member of the LaGrange county Farm Bureau and a member of the LaGrange county stabilization and conservation committee. Burial was in the Woodruff cemetery. $ William Leman Funeral services were conducted in Bremen at 10 am. Tuesday for William Leman. 86, founder of the Leman mint oil company. Mr Leman resided at 806 W Plymouth St., Bremen, and was well known in the Milford area Death occurred at his home at 3 p m. Saturday. In 1911 he began growing and buying mint. One year later he founded and incorporated the mint company He served as chairman of the board at the time of his death. Mr. Leman organized the Farmers State Bank at Wyatt in 1917 and served as a director of the Saint Joseph Bank and Trust Company at South Bend from 1933 until 1963. He was a past president of the Bremen community school board On December 20. 1906 he married Anna Gerber She survives .Also surviving are five sons. Lester of Sunnyside. Wash . and Nelson, John,. Samuel and William. Jr . all of Bremen; three daughters. Mrs. Eugene Zimmer and Mrs Richard Clemens, both of South Bend and Mrs. Walter Beer of Bremen; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grand-children ; and two brothers and a sister in Illinois. Mrs. Edna May Long Funeral services were held last week for Mrs. Edna May Long. 93. of Fort Wayne. She passed away Thursday in a Fort Wayne hospital. Mrs. Long was born in Kosciusko county on February 5, 1877 to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Jones She lived most of her life in the North Webster area moving to Fort Wayne several years ago. Survivors include a son, Rolland, of Fort Wayne with whom she resided and a nephew , Lester Gray of r 1 Leesburg.

George M. Ferverda Funeral services for George M. Ferverda. 75, of r 1 Walkerton who died Monday, Nov. 16. in his winter home at Winter Haven, Florida, were held Friday 2 p.m. in Walkerton. Mr. Ferverda. moved to Walkerton from Leesburg 25 years-ago. Rev. Harold E. Miller officiated at the services and burial was in the Govertown cemetery, Clinton E. Whitehead Clinton E. Whitehead. 59. of Elkhart, brother of Mrs. Helen Miller, Syracuse, died Sunday in the Fountain View nursing home at Elkhart following major surgery in Rochester. Minn. , • A native of Goshen, Mr. Whitehead was born there on April 20, 1911 a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Whitehead. He was united in marriage to Lula Sommers in 1929 and she survives,. They moved from Goshen to Elkhart in 1931. Mr W’hitehead was a fireman at the Elkhart fire station for a number of years prior to being named to the position of city fire inspector, a post which he held for 16 years, retiring in 1968. A member of the First United Methodist church, the United Commercial Travelers and the Four-Lakes Country club, he had been employed at the Saint Joseph Valley Bank for the past 18 months Also surviving in addition to the widow and sister are a son, Stephen. Chicago; two grandchildren; a brother. William. Sarasota. Fla ; and one other sister. Mrs. DeVon (Evelyn) Hunsberger, Wakarusa. A daughter preceded him in death in 1943 Services were held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Elkhart. Silveus Infant Graveside services were held at 10 a m. Tuesday at Violett cemetery’, Goshen, for the stillborn son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Silveus of r 1 Syracuse. The infant was born Sunday morning at Elkhart hospital. Father Eugene Zimmerman of Saint Martin de Porres church officiated. Harry J. Koontz, Sr. Harry John Koontz, Sr.. 48, of r 1 North Webster, died unexpectedly on November 14 while on a business trip in Nidelles, Belgium. Mr. Koontz was born on November 22. 1922 at Pana. 111., but had resided in the North Webster area for several years. A veteran of WW 11, he is survived by his wife, the former May belle Carpenter; three sons. Harry John serving in Japan, Larry’ Floyd and John Joseph, both at home; and twin daughters. Dana and Lana, at home. Kristine Kay Garman Funeral services for Kristine Kay Garman, three and one-half-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Garman of Leesburg were held at 2 p.m Sunday. The young child died Thursday at the Parkview hospital in Plymouth.

His room number is 302 at Goshen hospital Pace-Maker Inserted Mrs. Lyle Childs of Milford who suffered a heart attack on October 21, has just returned home from the Goshen hospital. She had a pace-maker inserted by her heart and her recovery is coming along very satisfactorily. Clarence Stieglitz of r 1 Milford entered the Goshen hospital last Tuesday He will undergo additional surgery on Friday and visitors are restricted. Mr. Stieglitz is in room 222.
