Weybnght 102 for totals of 20-27-21 Carroll — W HS The Wawasee Warriors met Carroll last Friday m the opening game of the season for a hard fought, yet futile game The first three quarters were played without much force, however, in the fourth quarter Wawasee came within six points of Carroll The Warriors scored first with John Hamilton tossing in a free throw Carroll then took command of the game with Wawasee trailing by 12 points at the end of the first quarter In the second quarter Tim Blue and Hamilton held up the Warriors for a short moment Carroll's Herdman and Hilger prevented the Warriors from gaming any more ground when the Warriors came within seven points of the Chargers At halftime Carroll lead by 10 points with a score of 42-32 Carroll s pace speeded up in the third quarter as Wawasee became careless and fell lower in scoring The quarter ended with a 62-44 score Wawasee s hopes of winning were dim for three quarters but with 4:47 left in the game the Warriors’ score began to rise with the spirits of the team doing the same With four minutes remaining Wawasee trailed by eight points with the score being 55 to 63 As the clock showed 2:30 remaining Hamilton shot a free throw, narrowing the score to seven points. Paul Miller and Larry Speicher led the scoring with 14, 12, and 10 points respectively. Paul Miller and Dave Wollman pulled down 14 and 12 rebounds for the Trojans Milford's 7th grade lost a close' contest by the score of 32 to 29. In their next game Milford will host Syracuse, Thursday. Dec. 3 at 6 Prep Wins First Game Os Season Wawasee Prep won its first varsity basketball gjrf?ie of the 1970-71 season b<f downing Donaldson Devine Heart 96-52, Saturday night on the/Lakers home court The Lakers led by a wide margin throughout the game after jumping out to a 27 to 14 lead by the end of the first quarter Prep extended its lead to 55-28 at the half At the end of three periods, the score was 8040 Coach Rex Yentes substituted freely with the reserves playing nearly all of the last two periods. Sylvester Allen again led the Lakers in scoring with 22 points. He was closely followed by Mike Elward who scored 21 points.
