* Shearer Facts . . . by Carl Shearer It's a fact that Paul in I Cor 13 lists 15 characteristics of Christian love. and the first one is PATIENCE The Bible word-long-suffering or patience—always describes our dealing with people and not patience with circumstances or things God is concerned about our behavior m response to people, not how we react when the car won't start or when things in general go wrong F'or instance, no one treated Lincoln with more contempt than did Stanton He called him "a low cunning clown ” He nicknamed him “the original Gorialla ” Lincoln said nothing When he became president he named Stanton as Secretary of War The years wore on The night came when the assassin's bullet cut down Lincoln in the theatre In the little room to which the President’s body was taken there stood that same Stanton that night, and looking down on the silent face of Lincoln in all it s ruggedness. Stanton said through his tears. "There lies the greatest ruler of men the world has ever seen ” The patience of love had conquered in the end. We invite you to the Milford Christian Church
