Cookies SAUCE PAN BROWNIES one'third cup fat 4 T. butter 4 T. cocoa 4 tsp. vanilla 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 4 cup sifted all purpose flour 4 tsp. salt 4 cup chopped nuts Melt fat and butter in a Bxß cake pan. Add cocoa, stir until well blended. Cool. Beat in vanilla and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour, salt and nuts. Mix well. Spread evenly in same pan. SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 4 cup butter or oleo 14 cup brown sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 2 T. molasses 1 tsp. soda 3 cups sifted flour 1 cup raisins little salt Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix soda in molasses, add to above. Add flour and raisins. Mix well. Drop by tsp. on greased pan. 3 cups quick cooking oatmeal 4 cup chopped nuts 1 package chocolate chips Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla, flour and salt and soda to cream mixture. Beat well. Add oatmeal, nuts and chocolate bits. Drop by tsp. on greased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. To change cookies use coconut, dates, raisins, gumdrops or orange peel in place of chocolate chips and nuts. Mary Stookey Leesburg Homemakers DARK HERMITS ( 3 dozen) 1 large jar mincemeat two thirds cups oleo 1 cup brown sugar 1 egg 14 cup oats 14 cup flour 4 tsp. salt 4 tsp baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 2 T. cinnamon Cream oleo and sugar Add eggs, oats, mincemeat Stir. Pat on a floured board to 4 in. thick and cut with cookie cutter. Bake for ten minutes at 375 degrees Yields approx. 5 doz. (Added tip) Bake a sample, if cookie spreads after being baked add more flour. Mrs. Vern Egolf Warsaw Harrison Center Club RAISIN SQUARES 4 cup granulated sugar 1 T. corn starch 1 cup water 2 cups raisins 4 cup butter or oleo 1 cup brown sugar 14 cup sifted flour 4 tsp. soda 4 tsp. salt 14 cup quick cook oatmeal Combine sugar, cornstarch, water and raisins, cook over lowheat until thick and clear. Cream butter and brown sugar, add flour, soda, and salt and stir good, add oatmeal and 1 T. water, mix till it crumbles Put half the mixture in a greased 13x9x2 inch pan and pat it firmly, cover with raisin mixture. Mix a T. of water into the remaining crumbs and drop spoonfuls onto filling and pat it smoothly. Bake in a moderate 350 degree oven for 35 minutes or until done. Drizzle with a cinnamon mix of 1 cup sifted confections sugar and 4 tsp. of cinnamon, 1 T. milk to make of a drizzle consitute, cool, cut in squares and serve. Minnie Busenburg Mentone
