Maia Dishes SLOPPY JOE SAUCE 1 qt. tomato paste 2 cups water 4 cup vinegar * one-third cup steak sauce 24 T salt iv 4 tsp. pepper 4 cup paprika 1 T chili powder 24 cup brown sugar 2 cup tomato juice 1 small onion chopped Mix together and simmer for 1 hour: Store in refrigerator and use as needed. DRIED BEEF CASSEROLE cup onion chopped y 4 cup celery v 4 pound dried beef y 4 cup fat 4 T flour 2 cups milk 2 cups cooked macaroni >4 tsp. salt t 4 tsp. pepper 1 T minced parsley one-third cup grated cheese, American Cook onion, celery and dried beef in hot fat. Stir in flour, add milk and stir until thickened. Add macaroni, seasoning and parsley. Pour into greased casserole sprinkle with cheese and bake 15 minutes in 350 degree oven. MACARONI 1 cup raw elbow macaroni 1 can mushroom soup 1 cup milk 1 medium onion, diced 2 hard boiled eggs, diced 1 cup cheese, cut fine f 34 ounces ham or dried beef Mix all together and put in refrigerator over night. % cup salt Enough boiling water to cover pickles Let stand over night. Drain and rinse. Combine the following: 1 pt. vinegar 1 T alum 3 pts. water 1 T tumeric Simmer with pickles until glossy. BAKED CABBAGE Cut 1 head of cabbage into pieces about the size of an egg. Add salt and boil for 7 minutes. Set aside. White Sauce 1 cup cabbage water (drain off other water) 1 cup milk 2 T butter 2 T flour =4 cup cheese, chopped — save out v 4 cup for top Stir while cooking until thickens. Place cabbage in buttered baking dish. Pour white sauce over cabbage. Cover top lightly with crackers and v 4 cup chopped cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until white sauce bakes up through mixture, about 25-30 minutes.
