Salads ORANGE POP SALAD 2 cups orange soda pop 2 boxes (range jello 1 large can mandarin oranges 1 cup mandarin juice and water 1 box Dream Whip Heat soda pop and dissolve jello. Add orange juice and enough water to make two cups. Cool jello until sirupy and then fold in beaten Dream Whip and mandarin oranges. Chill. To mold add a little less liquid. Rose Repine Jolly Good Neighbors Silver Lake TOMATO-OLIVE SALAD 4 tomatoes, cut in wedges 4 cup pitted ripe olives, cut in halves 1 mild onion, cut in slices and separated into rings 4 cup salad oil 1 T. vinegar 4 tsp. salt 4 tsp. Thyme 4 tsp. Sweet Basil Combine tomatoes, olives and onion rings in salad bowl. Combine oil, vinegar, salt, thyme and basil. Pour over salad and toss well. Makes 6 servings. Mrs. Russell H. PEASALAD 1 small can peas, drained 2 inch square American cheese, diced fine 14 cup finely chopped cablpge one third cup sweet pickles, finely chopped 1 stalk celery cut fine 3 hard boiled eggs, cut fine Mix and add sweetened salad dressing (about 4 cup and 2 T sugar) to moisten salad well. A little more or less of any ingredient makes little difference. This salad with steaks makes a meal. Serves 4. PINEAPPLE CHEESE SALAD 1 small can crushed pineapple and juice 1 cup water 4 cup sugar Mix together and bring to boil (remove from heat). Add 1 pkg. lime or lemon jello. Let set until 4 firm. To this add the following: 4 cup nutmeats 1 cup diced celery f or apples 1 small pkg. Philadelphia creamed cheese mixed with 4 cup whipped cream. Chill in refrigerator. Mix everything except cherries. Then add the cherries. Fold in well. Spread in lightly oiled baking dish (13x8). Freeze until firm. Cut. Serve in lettuce cups or sherbert glasses. Remove from freezer about 10 minutes before serving. Mrs. Riley Parker , Jolly Good Neighbors Burket ■J _ 24 HOUR SALAD 2 eggs, beaten 4 T. vinegar 2 T. sugar 1 tsp. butter 1 cup whipping cream 2 cups white cherries or Tokay grapes 2 cups pineapple tidbits 2 cups diced oranges 2 cups miniature marshmallows Put egg in doulbe boiler with vinegar and sugar. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add butter and cool. When cold, fold in whipped cream and fruit. Turn into a mold and refrigerate 24 hours. SAUERKRAUTSALAD 1 no. 2 can sauerkraut 1 cup diced celery 1 cup diced onion 1 cup sugar 1 small jar stuffed sliced olives 1 small jar pimentos 2 grated carrots (average size) Helen Kline Charm ’N Chatter North Webster CREAM CHEESE SALAD 1 three oz. pkg. Jello (lime and lemon are good) 1 small can crushed pineapple 1 three oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 cup hot water 1 cup diced celery 4 cup pecans, broken 1 cup whipped cream 1 small jar red pimentos, diced Combine jello and water. Chill until syrupy. Mix creamed cheese with some pineapple juice until smooth. Combine all ingredients, folding whipped cream in last. Chill until firm.
