Eisenhower Scholarships To Be Awarded In Indiana
High school seniors and graduates who haven't yet entered college are eligible to compete for a series of scholarships being awarded statewide by the newly-created Eisenhower Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Schools in this area will receive information packets on the scholarship program this week. Seven SI,OOO scholarships are to be awarded to Indiana students. The scholarships will not be confined to the basis of need. They will go to students chosen by a panel of judges as best exemplifying the ideals and conservativeprincipalsof the late President Eisenhower. Students already attending college are not eligible for the Eisenhower scholarships, explained Sarkes Tarzian, Indianapolis and Bloomington manufacturer, and chairman of the Indiana board of the Eisenhower Foundation. The foundation is nationwide. The Indiana scholarship program is the first of a series of similar scholarship presentations envisioned for each -state in the union. The eventual goal of the Eisenhower foundation is to establish scholarship awards comparable to the Rhodes scholarship program. "We are pleased that Indiana has been selected as the pilot state in this undertaking and that Hoosier students will be the first to benefit from these scholarships,” said Tarzian. High school principals will receive full particulars on the Eisenhower Scholarship awards. Students who have graduated from high school may either secure entry forms at their local school or write directly to the Eisenhower Scholarship Foun-
