Wawasee Floors Concord 32-6 hi Friday’s Action

By JOHN BAHN The Wawasee Warriors met the Concord Minutemen at Concord last Friday and came home a 32-6 victor in a hard played game. In the first quarter Wawasee’s Russ Mikel received the kickoff from Concord’s Donald Dickey and raft 30 yards before being brought down. Later Wawasee’s Roger Korenstra fumbled with Concord’s John Harold recovering Wawasee’s Rex Hunziker smashed through Concord’s offensive many times in the game, tackling the Concord quarterback and throwing Concord for a loss Mikel intercepted from Con cord's Robert Gorden but it was called back because of clipping. Tim Blue later passed to Mikel for a touchdown with Tom Speicher running the extra points.

Syracuse Junior High School Beats Fairfield Last Tuesday evening the Syracuse Yellowjackets took to the gridiron once again and defeated a weak Fairfield team for their fourth win in a row. The Yellowjackets once again established their ground attack and scored four touchdowns; r Gary Dean scored his first touchdown on a three-yard plunge in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Yellowjackets scored on runs by Alan Kitson and Mark Smith. Late in the third. Alan Kitson caught a pass from Mark Smith and ran eight yards for the fourth score The final score came on a quarterback keeper as Smith ran 11 yards. Once again the Yellowjackets had two touchdowns nullified on penalties. The leading rushers for Syracuse were Alan Kitson who carried 12 times for 109 yards, and Mark Smith with 7 carries and 135 yards. Syracuse vs. Triton The Syracuse junior high Yellowjackets lost their first game of the season to Triton 8 to 6. even though the Yellowjackets were ahead in all categories except the score, they could not overcome 65 yards in penalties against 0 for Triton. On two occasions the Yellowjackets had 4th down and long yardage and managed to pick up the first down only to be penalized once again. Warrior Reserves Defeat Wawasee Prep Thursday

The Wawasee Junior Varsity squad thumped previously unbeaten Wawasee Prep, 24-14, in a game played under the lights Thursday evening at Wawasee high school Prep started the scoring on a 28-yard run in the first quarter and the PAT was also good.
