Warriors Pound Plymouth 18-14
By JOHN BAHN The Wawasee Warriors met I and defeated the Plymouth Rockies at Wawasee's rainy homecoming Friday evening. Because of the rain the game was started one half hour late and the parade and crowning of the queen were called off Chris Caywood was crowned queen on Monday, afternoon L during ceremonies held at the school and the parade has been I rescheduled for approximately 6:30 p m Thursday. It will be held between the freshman and junior varsity games and the new queen will preside. In the first quarter Plymouth’s Kevin Wiedner kicked off to Wawasee with Donn May returning the kick.. Later Roger Korenstra ran 20 yards after he received a hand off from Tim Blue Blue then pushed across for a Warrior touchdown The extra point was attempted, but failed Donn May then kicked off with Steve Vanlaningham making the tackle for Wawasee. Plymouth’s Gary Myers received a 30-yard pass from Kevin Wiedner Later Wiedner gave a hand off to Kevin O’Keefe for 11 yards with Vanlaningham again doing the tackling. During the second quarter Wawasee’s Bill Richardson quickly pushed back Wiedner five yards. Wiedner then connected a pass for a Plymouth touchdown The extra point was completed and Plymouth pushed out in front. Wawasee’s May received the kick off and darted for 25 yards before being tackleq. Blue connected with a pass to Russ Mikel and the touchdown put Wawasee back in the lead. Second Annual Wawasee PGA Scramble Attracts 54 Pros
The second annual Wawasee PGA scramble, jield last Thursday at Wawasee Golf Club, attracted 54 golf pros from over the state of Indiana. A good game was held under overcast skies, and competition was keen for a purse of $2,650 A total of $1,500 of the purse was put up by Eli Lilly, wellknown Lake Wawasee and Indianapolis resident

In the third quarter Wiedner was forced back by May for a loss of 10 yards-; All during the third Wawasee forced back Plymouth with forcefull rushing. Later Rex Hunziker intercepted a pass from Plymouth’s Wiedner and ran 30 yards. With 4:40 left in the quarter. Tom Speicher pushed three yards for a touchdown. Joe Baumgartner picked off a fumble with 3:40 to go in the quarter. With 2:08 remaining Baumgartner leaped for a 10yard pass from Tim Blue. During the final stanza Plymouth’s Kevin O'Keefe passed to Jerry Clevertger for six yards. Wawasee's Jay Desommer intercepted a pass. Later Donn May received a punt and ran a 40-yard return. Blue then fumbled, however, it was recovered on the next play. Joe Baumgartner failed to complete two plays and with 3:17 left in the game May attempted to intercept a pass but failed. He did. however, prevent the pass from being completed. With three minutes remaining Wiedner passed to Gary Myers for 10 yards. W’ith 1:24 left May intercepted. Wawasee then held its ground until the game ended. Lou Quarandillo, Dick Walker and Paul Farrington Winning second and $825 with a 56 for 16 under par were Dave Combs, Columbus; Bill Russell, Indianapolis; Dick Jacks. Battle Ground; Ivan Gantz. Elwood; and John White. Logansport. C-D-E FLIGHT CHAMPS NAMED AT WAWASEE Winners of the C, D and E flights at Wawasee golf club were named over the week end In the C flight semi-final Bud Dippon won over Red Marlin 4 and 3. In the final Leonard Jones won over Dippon 5 and 4 for the championship ? In the D flight Larry Wheland won over George Bums 3 and 2.
GREG ANDERSON Wawasee Prep Defeats Howe Military Academy Wawasee Preparatory had a field day at Howe Military school last Wednesday with the Lakers’ Junior varsity team defeating the Howe Cadets 44-0. Greg Anderson, the sophomore back from Chicago, scored five of the six-touchdowns while the other was scored by Rich Mishler, a junior from Pierceton. Anderson’s pass receptions, punt returns and running game netted him 250-yards during the game Points after touchdown were scored by Rod Martin, a junior from South Bend; Terry Bonds, a sophomore from South Bend: Brad Vite, a sophomore from Elkhart, and Bill Nelson, a sophomore from South Bend. In spite of the fact Howe Military had a fair amount of beef on their defensive line, their speed and overall reaction was too slow to contain the Prep backs and passing pattern. Greg Anderson, is scoring fivetouchdowns, has raised his scoring record to eight, in the two JV games played so far this season. Sylvester Allen, the Lakers’ quarterback, continued his fine performances of the season and was able to dazzle and confuse the Cadets with quarterback keeps and rollouts. Thursday evening at 7:30 at the Warrior Field, Wawasee Prep will meet the junior varisity team from Wawasee high. Wawasee Reserves Downed. By Plymouth The Wawasee “B" team was defeated by Plymouth 14-6 at Plymouth last Saturday. The Warriors led the first half 6-0 on an interception by Dan Chamberlin who ran 65 yards for the touchdown. In the second half Plymouth scored on a quarterback sneak from the two-yard line and again in the fourth quarter on a 16-yard reverse play. Wawasee was unable to gather, but one first down in the second half and threw three interceptions which aided the Plymouth victory. Wawasee plays Wawasee Prep at the Wawasee high school field at 7:30 Thursday evening. Their season record is now 3-2-1.
