Prep Wins Three Over Week End Ploy
Wawasee Prep made a clean sweep in three home games. Saturday, winning two soccer games,and one varsity football game Saturday afternoon the junior varsity soccer team took the opener of the soccer season winning over the JV team of Indianapolis Park 2-0. The varsity team then took to the field and beat Park’s varsity soccer team 4-0 Cassio Mattar, a student from Brazil scored three of the (our points for the Lakers while Bill Thamsuwan. a student from Thailand, scored the other point. Cassio enjoys the game and says that it is .the same in Brazil as "Hoosier Hysteria - ' is in Indiana. Saturday evening the varsity football team won the first game for the Lakers in the history of the school, this being the first year for varsity football at Prep The team defeated Chicago Glenwood by a score of 28-6 The Lakers came through in fine fashion, scoring in each quarter. Wawasee And North Wood Reserves Dual To 20-20 Tie Saturday Morning
The Warrior reserves played to a 20-20 tie with North Wood on the Wawasee field Saturday mor nmg N’orthWobd started the scoring with a 32 yard pass play The Warriors came right back as they marched 73 yards with Dwight Dean scoring from four yards out. The PAT failed and the halftime score was 6-6 North Wood again started the scoring with a 51 yard pass play, but the Warriors again marched 65 yards and again Dean scored from two yards out The extra point was scored by Dean also and the Warriors led 14-12. North Wood bounced right back and scored on a 13 yard run to make it 20-14. but the Warriors again came back to score on a two yard run by Ken Cripe and

Prep is looking forward to the game with Indianapolis Park football team this coming Friday. He believes that the season is progressing as planned and as the Lakers gam in experience they will continue to improve as they have in the past week Once more. Yellow Jackets Defeat Avilla The Syracuse Yellow Jackets opened their 1970 football schedule by defeating Avilla 12 to 6 The first score came in the first quarter on a 90-yard punt return by Mark Smith. At half time the score remained 6 to 0. In the second period. Avilla blocked a Jack Schopf kick and after 5-plays scored their only touchdown from the 5-yard line. In the fourth quarter Syracuse took the ball on the 40-yard line and scored 8-plays later on an end sweep by Quarterback Mark Smith Leading rushers for Syracuse were Mark Smith with 38-yards in 7-carries and Gary Dean. 32-yards in 7-carries. Alan Kitson on three kick-offs averaged 46-yards. Their next game is September 22 against North Webster at Wawasee high school. Jim Twaits Wins Tractor Pull Saturday Jim Twaits won the MAD tractor pull held at 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He pulled 406 per cent with his tractor weighing in at 730 pounds. The tractor pull was held by the FFA as a public service for MAD’s festival.
