Indiana, receives the second Russ Wells Memorial plaque from John "Red” Rarick of Fort Wayne for his efforts in removing powerlines near Taylor field at Wooodburn. Far ver paid the total cost of H 925 to bury the hazardous wires. Farver said “If one life is saved, the cost was cheap." The presentation was made at W awasee Airport Sunday afternoon during an open house program. Guest speaker at the open house was Mr. Rarick. Rarick embarked on a one-man campaign to remove or bury dangerous powerlines near airports following a tragic airplanepowerline accident on July 9, 1967 a| a small airfield in Tomah. Syracuse BPW Meets At Mason Home Last Week The Syracuse Business and Professional Women’s club held its September 9 meeting at the home of Mrs. Claude Mason with a carry-in dinner preceding. During the business session. Christmas - decorations were discussed and the pros and cons as to adding to the decorations purchased for the town last year. Also discussed was the upcoming recipe book and the need for more recipes. A certificate was presented the club from Riley Hospital for the club assistance to the organization for 28-years. There were 29 members and six-guests. Mrs. E. Halliday, Mrs. Elizabeth Lines, Mrs. J. W. Hatton. Mrs. Mabel Zehner. Mrs. Marland Wortinger and Winnie Smith. Mrs. Vernon Beckman received the door prize. Syracuse OES In September Meeting The September stated meeting of the Syracuse Order of the Eastern Star met at the Masonic hall with the meeting opening in regular form. Mrs. Cherrie Caldwell and Gerald Cramer president in the east. Cramer spoke briefly on the inspection with Kosciusko and Leesburg chapters at Milford in June Harry Gingerich, sitting in the west, presented an interesting resume on the once in a lifetime gift to the International Temple, Order of the Eastern Star, A memorial was held for Mrs. Court Slabaugh. a charter member of the Past Matrons dub Mrs. James Kitson was in charge of refreshments following the meeting. AUGUST POLICE REPORT GIVEN AT MILFORD Milford police chief Don Drake has released the following report for the month of August: Miscellaneous calls 111 Arrests 13 Reported Thefts 5 Accidents investigated 6 Accidents assisted other depts 4 Dog calls 9 Delivered emergency messages — 6 Vandalism reports 1 The car was driven a total of 2,714 miles. YOUTH ATTENDS SERVICE AT YELLOW CREEK CHURCH Six youth from the Syracuse Church of the Brethren' Youth Fellowship attended the Sunday evening service at the Yellow Creek Mennonite church, located north east of Wakarusa. Jimmy Dißaddo of New York City was
the guest speaker. Attending were Jill Farrell, Laura Steury, Nina Gilbert, Chuck Baldwin. Jeff Farrell, and Terry Baldwin. Rev. and Mrs. Jack Farrell. Miss Phyllis Fackler and Miss Sharon Gilbert accompanied the youth. Accident Saturday At Overhead North Os Milford James Emerel Hitchcock, 26, 1084 E. Market St., Nappanee, was involved in a one-car accident at 2:24 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his car and hit a guard rail one and one half miles north of Milford. He refused treatment for slight injuries he received. Hitchcock was cited for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages. Deputy sheriffs Alan Rovenstine and Ron Robinson investigated. .

REVIVAL SERVICES AT SYACUSE CHURCH A week of revival services is being scheduled for September 20 through 27 at the Church of the Nazarene located at 312 North Harrison, Syracuse. G. W. Hoot Evangelistic party (G. W. and wife Pearl) will be present for special programs each evening at 7:30 o’clock. The Rev. John Secor is pastor of the church and’the public has been invited to attend.
