NO REIMBURSEMENTS BY STATE RAISES MILK COSTS Because of a notice received from the Indiana Division of School Lunch last Wednesday informing us that the U.S.D.A. will no longer be reimbursing on extra milk — the price of afternoon milk will be raised from three cents to seven cents at the Milford elementary- school. This means that the amount reported last week must be changed to $2.44 for the first six days of school for milk and lunch. Principal Lewis S. Immel asks parents to. "Please have your child bring this amount on Thursday- of this week.** WHITE RIBBON FOR CRAFT EXHIBIT Carolyn Long, r 3 Syracuse, was a winner in the 4-H judging at the Kosciusko county fair. She went on to the Indiana state fair to win a white ribbon in section 5291 in the crafts division for her display. - JOE GERENCSER WINS RIBBON A red ribbon was awarded to Joe Gerencser of r 1 Milford, for his exhibit pertaining to weed identification. He was judged in section 4515, division I. Joe was able to display at the state fair by winning in the 4-H judging at the Kosciusko county fair.

31 Teachers Join Lakeland Staff
A total of 31 new teachers have joined the Lakeland Community School Corporation s staff and will be greeting pupils for the first time tomorrow morning. They follow: Milford Mary Frances Guidone — grade 2 Nancy Nelson — grade 1 Betty Jo Buitman — elementary and junior high music. Lynn M. Beer — grade 5 Barbara J. Devine — physical educat ion Martha S. Pittman — grade 5 AREA 4-Hers RATE HIGH WITH SWINE Area 4-H members rated high with Poland China in the swine judging at the state fair on August 28. Cynthia Rapp of r 2 Milford received an eighth place rating with February gilts while her brother Rick placed 11th. Rick also finished eighth with a March gilt. MILFORD 4-Hers WIN STATE FAIR RIBBONS Sandy Gerenscer of r 1 Milford was awarded a red ribbon in division I of the wildlife exhibits at the Indiana state fair. Her exhibit had been a winner in the 4-H judging at the Kosciusko county fair previously. Another 4-H member who was a winner at the state fair is Rick Rapp, also of r 1 Milford. Rick earned a white ribbon in division II of the wildlife displays. His exhibit also was displayed at the Kosciusko fair. TREATED FOR INJURIES SUSTAINED ON SATURDAY Robert M. Grotz, 41, of north Shore Drive, Syracuse, sustained a small cut of the upper lip in a two-car, rear-end collision shortly after noon Saturday in front of the drive of Monarch Industries offices on Lincolnway east. Goshen. Grotz. driver of a 1969 Pontiac station wagon, was hit in the back by a 1964 Pontiac driven by Bobby D. Scott, 32, r 1 Middlebury. Both cars were headed northwest on U.S. 33 when the Grotz vehicle slowed to make a left turn into a private drive and was hit when Scott reportedly glanced away a short period of time and was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. Damages were set at S7OO.

JUBILEERS ENTERTAIN AT ROTARY TUESDAY Paul Levernier furnished the Coho salmon for the Tuesday Rotary dinner-meeting at the Pickwick with 40 members and guests in attendance. Levernier caught the fish on one of his fishing trips on Lake Michigan. The local Jubileer Quintet furnished the program portion of the meeting with a number of Gospel songs and messages. Well known in the area, the group is composed of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Knapp, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bushong, all of Syracuse, and Mrs. Beverly Sponhauer of Ligonier. A second record has been cut at Nashville during the past week. Jerry Ganshom will be in charge of the program for the next meeting.
