* i Zt /I £ SfegS VEGA TO BE SHOWN — Chevrolet’s all-new Vega 2300 Kammback wagon will be shown locally at W. L. Cutter Chevrolet. Inc., in Syracuse, and at McCormick Motors in Nappanee on Thursday. Sept. 10. Three other Vega models —a "hatchback” coupe, a sedan, and a panel express version of the wagon for commercial duty — will be debuted at the same time. Offering 50.2 cubic feet of cargo volume, the Vega wagon is built on a 97-inch wheelbase and is powered by a new and unique fourcylinder. UO-cubic inch (2300 cubic centimeters) overhead cam. aluminum alloy engine which, on engineering test runs conducted by Chevrolet, has provided an excellent combination of economy and performance. Overall measurements of the wagon include its 169.7-inch length. 65.4-inch width and 52-inch height. Curb weight is 2.273 pounds. Ride and handling of Vega models have been the subject of high<praise from those who have driven them. A special feature of the wagon is its swing-up tailgate allowing easy access to the rear. Functional louvers built into the rear quarter panels provide flow-through power ventilation, permitting effective ventilation without annoying wind noise from open windows. In standard form the engine is rated 99 hp (SOSAEnet). It is offered in a 110 hp (93 SAE net) version. A choice of four transmissions is also offered: the standard 3-speed manual shift, or the 4-speed manual shift, automatic Powerglide, or semi-autoniStic Torque Drive.
