LIGONIER NEWS c By Rose Cunningham 12 New C Os C Members Twelve new members have been added to the Ligonier Chamber of Commerce roster, it was reported at the August meeting This makes a grand total of 48 unit memberships. A discussion was also held regarding memberships involving individuals with multiple entities. A booth for the Labor Day celebration was discussed. Other discussions included were Christmas lighting and signs at the city limits. Several committees were appointed. ROTARY CLUB HAS MEETING The Ligonier Rotary club met Monday evening with the business meeting conducted by Eugene Atz. He reminded Strawberry Valley Celebration Day committees to finalize their plans and small banners were distributed to Members to advertise Rotary. Several guests were present from Albion and Ligonier

SOLDIER INJURED WHILE PAINTING Sp-5 Phillip Sensibaugh recently suffered Ist and 2nd degree burns about his face and eyes when a bucket of paint remover with a sulfuric acid base was knocked over and splashed on him. He was in the army hospital but is now resting in camp at Fort Carson, Colo. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sensibaugh have been visiting him. GLEN LESLIE REMAINS SERIOUS Glen Leslie, of Cromwell, remains in serious condition in the inensive care unit of Goshen Hospital. Mr. Leslie was injured on August 1 in an'automobile accident on Rd . 33 while following an ambulance which was taking his wife to the hospital. Schlotterbacks Home From English Tour Major and Mrs. • Victor K. Schlotterback and family who have been visiting in the area for the past three yeeks, have left for their new home in Dayton, Ohio. Maj. Schlotterback has been stationed in London, England, on an exchange tour with the Royal air force. He is the son of Mrs. Melvin Schlotterback of Ligonier. HQME FROM CALIFORNIA Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fisel have returned from a visit with their son Sgt. Stephen Fisel and family, at Vacaville, Calif.
Mrs. Sponhauer In 1970 Edition Os 'Outstanding Young Women'
Beverly Sponhauer has been selected to appear in the 1970 edition of "Outstanding Young Women of America.” Mrs. Sponhauer, nominated earlier this year by the local lota Epsilon of Beta Sigma Tau, was chosen on the basis of her achievements. She has been a teacher in the West Noble School Corporation for the past nine years and has also been employed at Indiana university, Fort Wayne, as in structor of language airts and supervisor in the reading clinic.
PAST MATRONS AND PATRONS HONORED Eastern Star Lodge No. 325 held its first meeting of the fall season Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic Temple. Past Matrons and Patrons were honored at that time. BADOREK. Laura Michele Mr. and Mrs. Gary Badorek are parents of a new daughter, Laura Michele. She was born August 23 at Fairbome air force base hospital. Ohio, and weighed nine pounds: 12 ounces. COMMUNITY NEWS Mrs. Owen Fought of Ligonier and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Targgart of Albion have returned from San Diego, Calif., where they visited. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Nelson and family and attended the wedding of their daughter, Joan. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walters in Phoenix. Arix. Sgt. Pamela Craig was guest of honor recently at a family dinner Sunday in Ligonier. Miss Craig, the neice of Mr. and Mrs John Haroff, of this city, left for Kamamusel. Turkey on August 27 Her sisters A-lc Margaret Craig, of Plattsburg AFB. N. Y. and Mrs. Patricia Stickles, of New Port Richey. Fla . were also home. Mr. and Mrs. Rosco McGuire and Mr. and Mr. Walter McGuire were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Butler and daughter of Springfield, 111., Miss' Charlotte Marie Butler and Mrs Carla Butler of Fort Wayne, visited Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schrock and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cunningham Thursday, -i, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Beer of r 1 Milford had as a Sunday caller. Miss Diane Ench granddaughter on her return trip to Bloomington, 111.
She is also well known in the area as a member of the Jubileers Gospel Quintet. The Outstanding Young Women of America program is designed to recognize the abilities of women between the ages of 21 and 35 who contribute to the betterment of their communities, professions and country. Over 6000 young women are nominated each year by leading women's organizations, college alumni associations and churches across the country. Mrs. Sponhauer will now compete for the state award. She is the wife of Marvey Sponhauer and resides on r 1 Ligonier.
