Mike Earnhart of Green township won first place in the 4H Swine division and David Riecke of Swan township won the reserve. Coleen Peffer was a double winner in the swine show. Her entry was named champion gilt and she received the premier showmanship award. Washington township was the winner in the 4-H parade with Wayne township second and Allen township third. Entries were judged in township groups on their overall appearance, balance of entry and how closely they followed the theme, “4-H Supports The Flag.” First prize was S3O. second S2O and third $lO. Open House Honors John Eashes A belated open house was held to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs. John Eash on August 16 at their home on 800 Water St. Mr. and Mrs. Eash were married 50 years on June 27th. The ceremony was performed by Rev. D. D. Troyer in Goshen. Football Practice Begins At Cromwell Football practice began this week for the West Noble football team The boys from Ligonier and Wawaka will be bussed to Cromwell for practice.

Baseball Team Wins State Honors Players on the West Noble High School Baseball team were rewarded last week iot their winning of the section in the state tournament. The "Chargers” and their coaches. Hal Prickett and Roger Tuggle, were privileged to see the Baltimore Orioles and the Cleveland Indians play three ball games on August 6 and 7, in Cleveland. The cost of the game tickets and hotel rooms were taken care of by a group of merchants and friends in the West Noble area. Merill Frick and Kent Cunningham drove cars for the group. PFC David Moser In California Pfc. David L. Moser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Moser, r 1, left this week for Camp Pendleton. Calif., after spending two weeks with his parents. He will visit his sisters. Miss Becky Moser, of Denver. Colo., and Mrs. Terry Braitain of Custer. S. Dak.. He will be leaving for overseas duty in about two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Rose are at their home in Ligonier after both having been patients in Elkhart hospital. Mrs. Rose underwent observation and Mr. Rose, surgery. Good Samaritan Ladies of the United Methodist church enjoyed a potluck supper at the Centenary church Monday evening. Miss Eleanor State was in charge of devotions and a talk on their trip to Hawaii was given by Mrs. Lee W’ellman. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Yeager of Fort Wayne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this week. They were former Ligonier residents.

Suzanne Long Will Graduate Friday Indiana State university will award 1.265 degrees in its first summer commencement exercises on Friday, Aug. 21. at 5 p.m. in the Tirey Memorial Union’s Tilson Music Hall. Dr. Isaac K. Beckes, Vincennes university president and a 1935 ISU graduate, will deliver the commencement address. A recipient of air ISU distinguished alumni award in 1964, Dr. Beckes will receive the honorary Doctor of Laws degree from ISU in the exercises. This is the first summer commencement for ISU. Previously, students completing degree requirements in summer sessions participated in the

Rankin will preside over the exercises and will confer the degrees in course. In the exercises. 576 graduate and 689 undergraduate degrees will be awarded. The group of 576 graduate degrees includes nine doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees; 54 master of arts (M.A.) degrees; five master of business administration (MBA.) degrees; eight master of library science (M.L.S.) degrees; and 500 master of science (M.S.) degrees. Os the 689 baccalaureate degrees to be awarded. 18 are to be conferred with scholastic

honors. Two students will be graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. They are Margaret McGregor Johnson, Vincennes, and James A. Potts, Evansville.
