14 YEARS AGO. AUG. 9.1956 Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Kaiser purchased Larry Maloney apartment building last week. Douglas Charlton suffered heart attack Saturday and is in the McDonald hospital. A potluck supper was enjoyed by members of the American Legion Auxiliary at the home of Mrs. George Auer Tuesday. Rev. Allen Weldy spoke at Hastings church service Sunday morning. The Milford high school band will play at the county fair Friday.

Mrs Robert Laudeman and Mrs, David Clem entertained ladies from Urbana at a luncheon at their Syracuse lake cottage Friday. f Joseph Judkins. Milford high school band director, and six of his band students are planning to attend Smith-Walbridge band camp at Syracuse next week. Mrs. Richard Russell of Tucson. Ariz., spent the week end visiting her sister, Mrs. Seth McFarren. and husband. The Women’s Missionary Society of the First Brethren church met with Mrs. Charlene Traster last Thursday evening.
Gregory Allen was bom to Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ferverda at the McDonald hospital August 3. Howard Berkeypile submitted to an eye operation in the Veterans hospital in Fort Wayne Thursday. Mrs. Woodrow Free and daughter, Laura Sue. were called to Waukegan, DI., Thursday due to the serious illness of Mrs. Free’s father, J. E. Goodwin. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Dowty and children have returned from a vacation trip through Canada and Niagara Falls. Mrs. Arthur Haab and mother, Mrs. Irvin Welty of Waterford, visited Mrs. Perry Haab and Doral Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hamilton and family left for Red Oak. Charles Teeple of Keesler Field, Miss., is home on furlough, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Teeple. He will return to Biloxi Saturday. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren for Mrs. Jessie Mae Neff, 65. She was a sister of Mrs. Victor Fuller and Mrs. Charles Price. Mrs. Jesse Miller had the Ten Teens drop in for a chicken dinner Thursday evening to help her daughter, Peggy celebrate her 17th birthday. Glen Gerber, Goshen. Walter Ritzman. Akron. Ohio. Don Rapp. Philip Beer, Lowell Rassi. and Otto Beer, Jr., have rented a cottage at Syracuse lake for the week Seaman first class Paul Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lark Becker, arrived home Monday after being honorably discharged from the navy at Great Lakes, 111. He had been stationed at Portland. Oregon.
Lloyd Coy was injured Tuesday afternoon of last week while working at the Milford Cement Products building. He is able to sit up. The Harlan reunion will be held at the J. B. Applegate home at Community Center on August 18. 30 YEARS AGO. AUG. 8.1940 Joe Calsi, 13, died after accident Friday morning on parental farm south of town. James Weaver. 13-year-old Wakarusa youth, drowned in Waubee lake Monday night when imable to swim in water that measured considerably over his head. William DeFoe Beltz, 61, former Milford resident, died at midnight Saturday at his Elkhart home. Mrs. Irvin Swartzlander. 75. died at 11:50 Monday night at her home eight miles west of Milford. She had been bedfast since February. A son. Charles Steven, was bom to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Le Count July 29. Mr. and Mrs. Rial Troup are the maternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Graff and family moved last Thursday from their Milford residence on state road 15 to the old Stouder farm two miles north of here on old state road 15. It was announced last week that a large amount of money would be spent to rebuild and completely rearrange the structure of the Apostolic Christian church located on state road 15 in Milford. The present church was built in 1906. Infantile paralysis spreads over this part of country in recent weeks. Mrs. Jack W’olferman returned to her home Tuesday from the McDonald hospital following the birth of a daughter Thursday that did not survive. Miss Evelyn Heiman, telephone operator of Warsaw, spent the week end with the Misses Elizabeth and Mary Helen Stuckman at their apartment. Lehman Wemple, who is building a new house on south Main street, stated that he had in mind to hold an open house to the public as soon as all work is completed on his building. Phyllis Stump of Gravelton entertained 17 members of the Happy-Go-Lucky 4-H club and six guests on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 1. t Rosemary Miller, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Miller, is a scarlet fever patient. 40 YEARS AGO. AUG. 7.1930 Members of the Merry Jayne sewing club and their families enjoyed a picnic at Kale Island on Sunday. The J. W. Estep cottage was leased for the day. Several vaccinations for smallpox have been made since Willard Charlton became ill with the disease. The Girls State Camp opened at
Camp Mack this week and will continue for twelve days. This will be the largest camp of the year. The Kosciusko County infirmary is in excellent shape and economically operated by Mr. and Mrs. Milo Maloy, according to P. R. Farnham, inspector for the State Board of Charities, who made his annual inspection. Bobby Brown is spending this week with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Vern W’ysong at Peru. Thomas Dobson of Three Rivers. Mich., is reported as being in very poor health again. He was former day marshal for the town of Milford. Perhaps the largest crowd ot_ the summer attended the union church service held at Camp Mack Sunday evening. the Town of Syracuse. Indiana Bidders for these warrants will be required to name the rate of interest which the warrants are to bear, not to exceed 5 per cent per annum. Such interest rate must be in multiples of one eighth or one tenth of 1 per cent, and not more than one merest rate shall be named by each bidder. The warrants will be awarded to the highest responsible bidder or bidders therefor who has submitted his bid in accordance herewith. The highest bidder will be the one who otters the lowest net interest cost to the school corporation to be determined by computing the total interest on all of the warrants to their maturity and deducting therefrom the premium bid, if any. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids. Each bid shall be for all of the warrants or for a specified amount of said warrants as set forth in said bid and shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check in the amount of ten per cent (10 per cent) of.the amount of the bid and bayable to "Lakeland Community School Corporation" to guarantee the school corporation against default by such bidder in complying with the terms of this notice and his bid.
