iter i AT THE PLAYHOUSE — "The Lion in Winter" will begin its second week at the Enchanted Hills Playhouse Wednesday. Aug. 12. The powerful story of King Henry 11 of England and his Queen, Eleanor of Aquitaine, is headed by John Newton and Janet Hayes. John and Janet are well remembered in the area for their outstanding duet-performance of "1 Do! 1 Do!the first show of the 1970 season at the Playhouse. Backed by an all equity company. EHP’s performance of “Lion in Winter" conveys the strength of James Goldman’s powerful script. The award-winning drama done in high comedy style promises the audience a delightful evening of live theatre entertainment. Dr. Tolan. the “director, recommends that because of strong subject matter and very descriptive phrases, this play is strictly an adult drama. Built around 1925 by the Spink family of Indianapolis, this building was then known as the Spink-Wawasee hotel, and was built on the site of the former W’awasee Inn and Cedar Beach club, both of which were destroyed by fire. Following the death of members of the Spink family, the hotel was sold to the Crosier Order in 1948 and after extensive remodeling, was opened under the name of Our Lady of the Lake Seminary. Their enrollment totaled 118 students. 0 The classrooms and chapel were completed in the spring of 1949 and work begun on a gymnasium in June of 1950. During the winter of 1952-1953, the open lakeside porch in the center of the building was enclosed and remodeled becoming the new home of the seminary library. The next winter a Music Shack was built as an addition to the auditorium.
