One Dead, Six Injured In July 10 Accident South Os North Webster
Mrs. Sandra Ball of r 1 North Webster and her three daughters and a friend Joni Rupprecht of Pierceton were involved in a twocar crash the evening of July 10 at the intersectiqpmf state road 13 and old road 30 shortly after 10 o’clock resulting in one death and six being injured. East bound on old road 30, the Ball car struck a car being operated by Harry Strong. 57. of Williamson. W. VA.. northbound on 13, when the brake on the Ball auto went completely to the floorboard as she attempted to stop at the intersection. Strong died at the scene of the crash and his wifbt was admitted to a Fort Wayne hospital. Mrs. Ball has been released from the hospital but is scheduled

to undergo facial surgery this week with several more hospital visits to follow. Linda Ball. 8. is also home at the present time. Anita Ball. 11, was admitted to the intensive care at Parkviewhospital. Fort Wayne, with severe head injuries. She has been released. Daughter. Susan. 14, was admitted to Parkview in critical condition and has regained consciousness three times since August 6 but has slipped back into a coma. Joni Rupprecht. 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rupprecht of Pierceton was admitted to intensive care at Murphy Medical Center following the accident for a fractured left arm and pelvis. She has been released to her home in a wheel chair with occasional use of crutches.

Joy read selections about mothers, for meditation. Garden remarks were made by Mrs. William Metcalf. Response to roll call came in the form of “My Favorite Teacher and Why.’’ Club members were busy at the county fair last week. Mrs. Gil Baumlee and Mrs. James McNabb assisted with a booth. Wednesday, while Mrs. D. K. White. Mrs. Vem Hunt. Mrs. Eva Brunner. Mrs. Marjorie Warner and Mrs. George Staples served as hostesses. -NW—LOCAL YOUTH APPEARS AT BUCK LAKE RANCH Joe Staples, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Staples, made his second appearance at Buck Lake Ranch last Sunday evening. He sang two numbers on the Merle Haggard show. The youth’s performances seem « wellreceived as he has already begun signing autographs and is scheduled to appear on future dates. He plans to sing in both the afternoon and the evening programs. August 16. —NW— J. L. KLINE FAMILY REUNION A reunion of the J. L. Kline family was held near New Paris, August 8, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grubb. Rev. and Mrs. Kline and the Orva Millers were those who attended from the North Webster area. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pound and family, Mrs. Nancy Schmuck and children, all of Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. Royal Kline. South Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Les Kline. Siloam Springs. Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Greg Ilnicke, Big Rapids. Mich.- Mr. and Mrs. Ormel Kline, Jftike, and Roger, North Palm Beach. Fla. —NW—STOOKEY, Eric Allen David and Linda (Noffke) Stookey, r 1, Leesburg, became the parents of their first child, a son, on July 31st. Eric Allen weighed eight pounds. 34 ounces and measured 20 inches. He wa§ bom at 1:04 p.m. at the Goshen hospital. James Krall of Sturgis, Mich., and Holly Barrett are attending a special session at Camp Mack this week. Dick and Melinda Roose sang a special number in the morning worship service. —NW—COMMUNITY NEWS Orva Miller is home from Goshen hospital after having surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baugher spent Wednesday evening, Aug. 5, with Mr. and Mrs. Ercell Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Ormel Kline, Mike, and Roger arrived from North Palm Beach, Fla., on August 3. Mrs. John Graham. Muncie, visited with her sister Mrs. Francis Likens for a few days last week while Mr. Graham attended the Camp Crosley alumni reunion. Mr. and Mrs.. Jake Eberly, near Ligonier, visited Sunday with Mrs. Ruth Rothenberger, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roush, and the Richard Kistlers, Churubusco, who were also in the area. LEESBURG RESIDENT RECEIVES - MINOR INJURIES Charles Baker, 20, r 1, Leesburg, suffered minor injuries at 9 p.m. Tuesday when the truck he was driving went out of control and upset on the Backwater Road southeast of North Webster. The driver suffered a sprained right ankle and a cut on the back but was not hospitalized. He told deputy sheriff Alan Rovenstine * the brakes locked on his vehicle and it skidded out of control before turning. Damage to the truck was , placed at $1,550. The deputy listed S3OO damages to shrubs and a fence owned by Albert Rider of r 1 North Webster.
