Syracuse Minor League Results Results of the minor league game played at Syracuse on July 28 showed the Bank team finishing their sixth game by beating Pilcher's 12-9 for an undefeated season in the Syracuse minor league. Pitcher Brian Smith got his sixth win of the year and Rick McKibben got his first save. The losing pitcher was Dan Andrews. Pilcher's defeated the Lions 5+ in a dose game on July 30. Winning pitcher Danny Andrews gave up four runs on eight hits. Losing pitcher Dave Stoffel gave up five runs on three hits. Catcher Stan Kroh collected four of the Lions eight hits in the losing cause.

Syracuse All-Stars Defeat Milford In First Lakeland All-Star Game

In the first Lakeland all star game played at Milford recently Syracuse defeated the Trojans 4-2 in a well played minor league clash. Syracuse scored its first two runs on a single to the right by David Jones in the second inning and then added the winning margin with single runs in the third and fourth innings. Catcher Stan Kroh collected two of Syracuse’s four hits and Brian Smith’s fence smashing double capped the hitting attack for the Syracuse stars. Syracuse Sox Are Tourney Champions The Syracuse Sox made it eight in a row by defeating North Webster in a wild high scoring game 18 to 11. > The Sox trailing 9-8, put the game away by scoring 10 runs in the sixth inning. Clark Conley’s triple added three of the runs. Scott Buffer won his eighth game with the help of Jack Schopf and Eric Coburn. The loss went to Fidler of North Webster. The Soc got into the final game by defeating Milford for the third time 12-4. Pony Leaguers End Season With 5-7 Record In recent Pony League action at Milford the home team lost two games to the Syracuse Sox by the scores of 8-4 and 12-4. The two loses brings Milford's season record to five wins and seven loses. The latest defeat saw Milford commit 13 errors, allowing Syracuse to score a 12-4 win. Buffer, who was the winning pitcher for Syracuse, was also the top batter He collected two hits. Milford's second baseman Matt Boddiger collected two hits and three RBl's for the losing Milford Trojans. For the season the top hitter for Milford was Dave Hamilton. He collected 12 hits in 35 at bats for an average of .349. Paul Miller was second with a .286 average. Larry Kaiser did most of the pitching for Milford. He started and finished 10 games this season, winning three and losing seven. Over the season he struck out 89 batters and ended with a respectable earned run average of 2.80. Lakeland Bowling Association Elects Delegates State and national delegates were elected Monday evening at the August meeting of the Lakeland Women’s Bowling Association held at the bowling establishment, south of Syracuse. Helen Frushour, association president, was elected state delegate with Katherine Knisley as first alternate and Thelma Hattersley as second alternate. Sharon Gilbert will be the national delegate with Mary' Lou Dixon as the alternate. President Frushour opened the meeting with roll call of officers and league representatives. Katherine Knisley, secretary, read the minutes and Mary Lou Dixon, first vice president, gave the treasurer’s report in the absence of the treasurer Mary Lou Lambert. Maxine Pifer presented the budget and finance report. National delegate Mary Lou Dixon reported on the national convention held in Tulsa; Okla., last May. Katherine Knisley ‘ reported on the workshop that she attended with Helen Frushour at Indianapolis. It was voted to pay the association secretary 30 cents per member with the treasurer receiving 10 cents per member. The sponsor fee for the women leagues, this year only, will be 15 dollars. 10 dollars going to the league and five dollars to the association for expenses. City tournament rules were read and passed. Several pre-bowl league meetings were announced by league presidents. Fredetta Money stated that the annual August meeting of the Thursday Night Ladies will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Mixed Doubles Bowling League Ends Season The Friday Mixed Doubles League finished their nine-week summer schedule Friday night. Immediately following, they held the smorgasbord-awards dinner. The Odd Balls, composed of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hartsough and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Keim, were presented with trophies and patches for first place honors. High scratch series trophies were received by Nelson Kistler and Mrs. George Lambert. High scratch game trophies were presented to Ernest Knight and Mrs. Jake Kern. The handicap series trophies were given ‘to Keith Keim and Miss Sharon Gilbert. Handicap game trophies were won by Jack Francis and Mrs. Richard Hartsough. Achievement awards, for the most improved average, were presented to Richard Hartsough (+10) and his wife, Virginia (+6). The WIBC high series pin was awarded to Mrs. George Lambert for her 623 series, rolled on the final night. This season’s officers were reelected for 1971. Door prizes were won by Richard Hartsough, Keith Fisher and Richard VanDiepenbos. T-BALL PLAY OF SYRACUSE LITTLE LEAGUE T-Ball play last Wednesday evening saw the Mets defeating the Braves. 21-19. Scott Slough and Tim Kauffman were leading hitters for the Mets. In a make-up game Monday, the Cubs defeated the Braves 1814 with Terry Rinker as leading hitter for the Cubs. I 1 [ Lakeland [ LGolf J HOLE-IN-ONE AND EAGLE AT WAWASEE A hole-in-one and an eagle were both scored at the Wawasee Golf Course over the week end. Charles Lanham of Indianapolis hit the hole-in-one on the fifteenth hole using an eight iron. It was his first hole-in-one and occurred on Friday. The following day Larry Yoder of Syracuse hit an eagle on the 425 yard number five. He used a three wood for his second shot on the four par hole. SSOO Prize For Hole-ln-One At Wawasee Golf Andrew CuLoden of Flosmoor. 81., received a SSOO prize at Wawasee Golf Course Sunday when he scored a hole-in-one in the First Flight golf tournament. Culloden was using a /ball manufactured by First Flight when he made a hole-in-one on number 15. The 61-year-oid Indiana visitor made the 135 yard shot with a six iron. It was his first hole-in-one. He received S2OO in merchandise and a S3OO donation to the charity of his choice. He chose the Italian-American Relief Association. Sunday’s First Flight tournament was the first of two to be held at the Wawasee course. A second tournament will be held this coming Saturday. Culloden’s hole-in-one was the seventh this year at the Wawasee course. MIXED SCRAMBLE HELD AT WAWASEE A mixed scramble tourney was held Saturday at the Wawasee golf course with the first team finishing with 31, five under par.
