ATHLETES TO HAVE PHYSICALS ' West Noble athletes, grades 7 through 12, will have their annual physical checkups on Monday, Aug. 10, at 7:30 p.m. with Dr. Donald Hooker and Dr. Robert Stone in charge. City Attorney Resigns City attorney Howard Heckner has submitted his resignation to the Ligonier city council, effective August 1. Each council member received a letter to this effect and a letter was read at this week’s council meeting. Another attorney will be sought to fill the post at once as considerable legal advice will be needed on the sewer construction project that the city’ is about to embark upon. A proposal from the CPA firm of Umbaugh and Co. was read at the council meeting, stating that a cost of approximately $7,000 would be involved for the complete financial planning of the sewer project, including setting up of new rate structures, preparation and sale of the bond issue preparation of necessary ordinances, advertising and all reports. This would not include the legal fees which would amount to between $2,000 and $3,000 more. If it was found that a prospectus for the sale of bonds was found unnecessary the amount could be considerably less. City officials attended a meeting Wednesday in Indianapolis with the state stream pollution control to decide whether Ligonier is guilty of adding to the pollution of the Elkhart River and if necessary, what steps could be taken to overcome this situation. The city engineer has submitted plans for the sewer project to the state board of health asking that Ligonier be considered for a grant to be used LEGALS LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Public Service Commission o< Indiana Docket No. 33405. in the matter ot the petition ot New Paris telephone.
