Pork Workshop In Chicago Sept. 28 And 29 Plans are underway to hold a National Pork Promotion Education Workshop, announced John Lane, Secretary of the Pork Industry Committee of the National Livestock and Meat Board. It has been scheduled in Chicago, September 28-29, 1970. “The highlighting feature of the workshop will be the participation of attendants in designing, programs to solve hypothetical marketing problems,” Lane said. “Each group will work on specific marketing problems, dealing with a given set of circumstances . . . even budget restrictions.” This technique of discussing market problems is an effective .way of bringing together thoughts, ideas and knowledge of people from a variety of professional and geographic backgrounds. Such discussions will also expose the particpants to a maximum range of problems and solutions, along with the major and minor factors to consider in consumer education and promotion programs, he continued. Also, people from outside the industry will discuss public relations techniques, promotion, education, advertising, communications and the media. ' "The underlying theme," Lane added, “will be ‘We are No. 2 ... We Must Try Harder."
