REMEMBER WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE ONE YEAR AGO Mrs. Edwin Bracke of Chicago is visiting her son in Michigan following a short visit in the Syracuse area. Mike Smith, son <rf Mr. and Mrs. Bud Smith, has been accepted to attend the naval academy prep school prior to entrance to the naval academy at Annapolis. SA Neil Stummer, former Syracuse resident, is serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, the primary recovery ship for the Apollo 11 recovery mission. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hearn are the parents of a son. Edward Wilson, born Wednesday at Goshen hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Merl Laughlin will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary August 7. Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Schortemeier of r 4 entertained over the week end for their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Barker of Tulsa, Okla. Dave Geible of Indiana Central college is a participant of Graz Center, Graz, Austria. t FIVE YEARS AGO Carl and Amy Baldwin of Fascination Place are members of the military affiliate radio system with elaborate radio equipment in their home. Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Weaver and family have returned from a trip to Hanibal, Mo., where they visited friends. The Syracuse Print Shop of J. Barton Cox’s has installed a practically new. rebuilt 104 x 16 offset press. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Groves of Pleasant Ridge spent Sunday at the Sam Bushong home. The Syracuse civil defense float has won three prizes in participation in recent parades. The Wawasee Property Owners association annual breakfast was held with 360 in attendance. TEN YEARS AGO Groundbreaking for the new EUB church south of Syracuse will be held Sunday. Harry Appenzeller has purchased the local dairy queen from William Richardson. An anchor, thought to be from one of the big steamer’s on Lake Wawasee over 50 years ago, was found last week end in front of the Seminary by two Warsaw youths. The WAWA Drive-In theater opened July 28 with free admission to all patrons according to owners, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stoelting.
